Big smile on my face again as the TL goes into freefall once more. present rate 9.6 which is a point or two higher than the last time. Not great news for the Turks, but for me it reduces my cost of living by aprox 35%. Not a smoker, but to put some sort of example on things, a packet of 20 cigs. is now £1-20p. Being summer, with an abundance of fruit & veg. these are at give away prices also. As for oranges & pomegranates, these are the trees that line the Boulevard that runs through the town centre, you can take the fallen fruit at will.

Climb in and enjoy, JF. In this world you've got to grab it while it's there! I now pay £8.95 for a packet of cigs and some cost way in excess of a tenner! I remember living in Spain where heating, petrol/diesel, tobacco, booze, food and practically everything was way cheaper than the UK. The outdoor markets were brilliant. I used to time it so I'd turn up just before the end and the stall-holders didn't want to take stuff away with them. As I walked between the stalls they'd all be calling out to me with ridiculous prices. I'd often get a crate of beautiful oranges/apples/lemons/bananas or whatever for just a euro. Then there'd be avocados, caulis the size of footballs, tomatoes; practically anything and everything you could wish for.

Of course, as it was fresh and could spoil I could only take so much but I used to juice the fruit and freeze as much of the veg as I could. Brilliant!
