Reading that, it doesn't take a genius to understand why we didn't appoint him. I'd imagine that Jenkins took one look at the guy and realised that this was no puppet who was going to dance to his tune. Far too strong a character and far too reminiscent of the problem that was Michael Laudrup, who had the actual effrontery to believe that he knew more about football than did Jenkins! But then don't we all!!

Then there would have been Bielsa's salary demands. Best not even go there.......... Jenkins and Morgan would have begrudged anything over 10 bob a week, reasoning that ultimately, whatever was paid to Bielsa, would have been that much less in the pot for them when it became time to do the dirty deed. Still, it was a nice paid holiday for them, which was the real object of the exercise.

Fucking reptiles!!

That was exactly the reason Ivor, I remember reading an interview Bielsa gave to one of his local rags, the big stumbling block being Jenkins' reluctance to giving him the total control he wanted over the squad, and I think that and only that was the reason he never came to the Liberty.

Are we expecting any squad rotation from Leeds playing on 2 days rest?
He's used the same starting XI so far, but you'd have to think with the physical demands of his system that he would look to rotate with such a quick turnaround. We'll see, but I'm expecting to see some rotation.

There should be rotation but I guess Potter is restricted by his own personal preferences and his lack of choice for various reasons. At the moment, our squad is a not very funny joke and how a complaint hasn't been lodged with the football authorities to look at our owners' credentials to be regarded as fit for purpose under FA rules, is beyond my comprehension. The Trust should be our mouthpiece but that is an impotent mess of an organisation and questions should be asked of them as to why they aren't pursuing more (any) vigorous action against the owners. Brown envelopes? The question has to be asked.

I'm paraphrasing a bit here, because I can't bear to read the newsletter again. Basically the new chairman of the trust reckons that under the old chairman there was a lack of leadership and transparency. But now the proles will be kept in the loop, subject to the restrictions of confidentiality, obviously.
I.e. What Ivor said.

I'd love to be optimistic about this game but tbh I'm shitting myself. They're a stronger, fitter more physical team than us and I think they've got more skill as well. Just being honest with my thoughts and, if we're going to win this, Potts will need to have instilled something in the team that I haven't seen this season. What that might be is completely beyond me but I really hope that he has come up with something. Heart says we will win 1-0 but head says that we go down at least 1-3. I can't tell you how much I hope I'm wrong and I would be delighted to get away with a draw.

COYS!! Prove that I have got it wrong!

I know what your saying Ivor, on paper the odds are stacked against us, but we more often than not raise to occasions like this. I don't think Leeds are going to take us lightly. I think we'll have a little more experience on the park tonight with Montero getting at least 45 mins.,I think we'll take this with the odd goal.

Nor can we play them with somebody that runs forward but walks back and whose passing is generally not at the Swanselona level.

Did you know that Leeds players, for all their pressing, tackling and fouling, have only been shown 2 yellow cards in their first three Championship matches?

Actually, in his three past seasons with us his passing accuracy was 84%, 82% and 81%. Pretty good for a central midfielder. Especially when you know that he, unlike Ki, always tries to pass the ball forward.

This season he only played 42 minutes, and both times when he played we were under siege. Against Preston his passing accuracy was 86% (second best) and against Birmingham 60% (Olie had 38%, Fulton 39%, Grimes 50%, Roberts 65% etc.).

Fer is actually a good passer, but he is too slow to play in the midfield when we are not on the front foot. He can't accelerate quickly enough when we lose the ball and have to track back.
