Swans v Brummies

Read a quote today that makes so much sense and I hope that Michael Duff is aiming to do something similar with us. It was said by Paul O'Connell who was skipper of the British and Irish Lions rugby team and completely encapsulates my feeling about how we should be as a football team.

"Let's be the best at everything that requires no talent."

Exactly!! If we follow that philosophy we won't go far wrong.

Ashby finally signed on and available for Brum .
Plays right wing back or full back but he says he can play on the left .
Let's hope he starts on the left and Key on the right , they will provide a decent threat out wide .

I hope the Swans show Mr. Tom Brady the club he should have invested in. I suspect a high goal affair, Swans down 1-2 at the half but win 4-2. Maybe that's the old mindset from watching Fisher and our defense. If Key, Ashby and Rushworth change my mind I'll be happy. Can't wait to see the boys in action again.

All the new toys thrown in !
Rushworth, Ashby , Key and Yates all start with Myk and Ginnelly on the bench.
Grimes ,Fulton and Paterson midfield with Piroe and Yates the 2 strikers , Key and Ashby wing backs and the 3 musketeers at the rear.
Which would you start on the left , Key or Ashby ?

3 of our subs are not yet match fit , Allen, Ginelly and Myk , suspect they will be given a 10 minute cameo if things are going our way .

Duff has spoken. Fisher to the bench.

Surprised to see Paterson starting. He's obviously impressed along the way.

No Ntcham anywhere.

There are likely to be some mis-steps early on as all the new boys get bedded in. Hopefully we can play our way through that.

Yates gets the nod over Cullen. Let's see if he can deliver and will he and Piroe actually have a conversation on the field or operate independently as Piroe is want to do.

Must admit to a tingle of excitement mainly to see how Duff's tactics will play out and also to cast an eye (or ear) over how the new signings will perform. Not expecting too much as all concerned have to bed in with each other. What I do expect though is a proper attitude and 100% application to the job in hand. If I don't see that then I will be extremely disappointed. And I will say so.

Gotta love how Rushworth comes straight into the team. Almost feel sorry for Fisher. After two years of bouncing between the bench and the starting line-up while being forced to play suicide-sweeper under Martin, he immediately gets replaced under Duff. His confidence must be nowhere. Although I still stand by my earlier assessment - to me he's always looked about as convincing in goal as an outfielder forced to stand-in when the real 'keeper gets injured and there's no more subs. Would you even trust him in a cup game at this point?

So, it's a 3-1-4-2 formation. Grimes defensive pivot, Paterson and Fulton as ATMs behind Yates and Piroe, Key and Ashby as wing-backs. Not bad.

Ntcham is probably being sold. I hope we keep Piroe through January at least. See where we are on the table. I'm intrigued by Kuharevic his signing was a surprise. We don't know what we have in him or Yates yet.
