Better keeper than Dai Davies in my opinion. Saw him play many, many times. Sympathetic thoughts with friends and family. RIP, Big Man.

Brian Clough said if we had had any other keeper than Dai the drop we would have won the championship that year. I still cannot understand why Tosh played dai and dropped Dave.

Just so younger posters are aware, when you say 'championship' I know you mean First Division champions. As it was we finished 6th but, because we were assured of a European spot via the Welsh Cup, Tosh elected to play some youngsters to give them experience at the top level. Had he picked his strongest team for the run in we could have finished even higher. We beat all the top teams of the day that season including Manchester United and Citeh, Spurs, Liverpool, Ipswich away (yes then they WERE a top team under Bobby Robson), Forest under Clough and did the double over Arsenal. Not bad for a first season at the top level. Cloughie stated that he thought Tosh should be voted manager of the century for his achievements over the previous four seasons. A bit OTT, I agree but the sentiment was clear. Happy, happy days! :)

Happy days indeed. 3 seasons later I burnt my season ticket and did not go back for many years.....
