2 points lost with Leeds losing and a chance to go top. They gave us a taste of our own medicine from the first half and we couldn't deal with it. Well, on to Charlton on Wednesday who just beat Leeds.

Byers is not 90 minutes fit. Carroll for Byers should have been the swap - Fulton was still up with the play and getting it done. And Ayew does not have a defensive brain cell in his head and neither does Celina in a wide position.

Leeds lost, that would have been a very good chance to go up. We should have had 2 goals. Woodman had that lucky save 74'. Just crushed right now.

I saw a lot of promising passing that was fast and brilliant. They fought for the ball when they gave away possession and broke up many attacks before they started. I could see what Celina was doing with that weak shot, he was looking to execute a through ball but they just missed out.

Love Byers tackles, Fulton was outstanding I don't know how he won that foul before he was subbed off. I like Garrick and Surridge off the bench, we have a deep bench. Ayew and Borja show why they are needed. Ayew was really getting in there we need not be afraid to take on defenders like that.

Roberts, VdH and Rodon did their job for the most part. That Woodman save when he came out was crucial, I was sure that was going to be the first Reading goal. But Swans did just enough to give up the points in the end. Hope they start putting wins up again, want to be in good form for Cardiff.

I have to go watch highlights of that conceding goal. I felt like Ayew had a decent game. He had the assist. Sometimes trying to take on all the defenders alone isn't the best strategy. Itnforces them to cover him though.

Just got back so only a few quick observations from me. Thought Borja worked his socks off without a great deal of support. For me, apart from the equaliser, I thought Ayew had a pretty decent game and most of those around me agreed. His work and cross for our goal was outstanding and I know this because it was done right in front of me. He covers a lot of ground and worked mainly on our right, so I wonder how much he should be criticised for their goal which came down our left.

Much of our work was downright sloppy; simple basic passes going astray with Byers and Grimes more than guilty. We often looked ponderous, particularly second half and struggled to escape their press. Yet again our creativity button wasn't working that well. Not being wise after the event because I remarked to Jack Flash sitting beside me early in the FIRST half that I could see the way things were going, that we would start to struggle and that we needed at least one more goal. Far from happy that I was proved right. More later.

We saw it coming early doors in the second half but Cooper acted too late to change things. Byers and Celina were well off the pace today, especially second half. We were crying out for Garrick or Dyer to give us some width for counters.

I know Fulton was struggling today with injury when he came off but he was by far our best midfielder and taking off Borja for Surridge was baffling. Borja was immense today, his hold up play was phenomenal as was his running. Ayew, as always divides opinion but I thought he was dominant for the first 60 minutes but faltered after. It would be interesting to see him use his energy in the second half as a sub like he did vs Northampton.

Typical Swansea performance, we have a half where we are in control and we sit back. It's infuriating and predictable; we needed a second goal before HT and if we had some courage we would've had it. To be fair Boyes from Reading should've seen a second yellow right before the break but that's not worthy of dropping 2 points to Reading who are 20th. We now have Charlton away which is not going to be an easy game.

Ayew switched to the left following the appearance of Garrick, who played on the right wing .... started the skinning of their LB almost immediately ... but we were very poor in getting him the ball.

Reading RB had a pretty care free afternoon going forward with nobody picking him up. With Celina on our left side or Ayew in his place, the RB always had oceans of room on the left corner of our box, plenty of time to control, push it a head and drill it. FFS, I could have scored that goal.

It's criminal that Cooper didn't see this coming with Celina and then admonish Ayew not to get drawn into the scrap in front of our box .... which of course being Ayew he would. In many respects he's like a 5 year old in a school yard chasing the ball.

I'll post about the actual game later but for now but would just like to say that I had a really good time yesterday thanks to being with some great folk. I met with @Ladygargar at her home then we went in her car to collect @Jackflash from the station. Then onwards to the Liberty where we met up with @Borini and @The Blobster. LadyGG kindly sorted out passes for us in Hospitality and whilst she and her delightful daughter Eleanor finished their meals, the lads and I had a drink together. Thank you, guys, it was enjoyable to be with you all.

The result disappointed but after the game, whilst GG and daughter did some retail therapy, JF and myself fed ourselves at Rossi's. Scrumptious meal it was too, very simple but really tasty. We had home-made steak pie, chips, mushy peas and gravy with coffee to finish. I know the fish n chips is good at Rossi's but if you haven't tried the steak pie then give it a go cos you won't be disappointed. :) We had the small portion which filled the plate!

LadyGG collected us to take JF back to the station then on to hers for me to collect my car to go home. It was a really nice change and a big thank you from me to you guys who helped make it an enjoyable day. Pity the Swans didn't do their bit as well.

Agree with most of the comments on the thread , I'm still boiling over our lack of tackling yesterday . Throughout the whole game only Fulton put in any serious challenge. We constantly let Reading play from defence and through midfield waiting to pick up a misplaced pass . Get in there mun and stop them coming into our box unopposed !
Great first half but the second half was appalling , Cooper must take some blame for making changes too late into the game. Borja had run himself into the ground by 65 mins , his replacement did well but should have come on earlier , Byers should have been replaced as he was generally unimpressive yesterday . Ayew had a good game, I can't fault his efforts.

My thanks to @Ladygargar for the hospitality passes , it was lovely to meet you as well as catch up with the other reprobates !

Ayew .... plenty of players put in a ton of effort, but if you're not where you should be or have to be in given situations it counts for nothing ... especially when the opposition get a free shot on goal and scores

Some stats:

POSSESSION: 50-50 SHOTS: 17-12 OT: 4-5 CORNERS: 3-6 FOULS: 8-14 GOALS: 1-1

Looks like Reading was the more efficient team to me but that was based on their second half performance because, after we were by far the superior team in the first period, for some reason we fell off a cliff in the second. Reason? Buggered if I know! I do know that before the game I was concerned about this game and posted as much. Reason? I've watched quite a lot of their games recently, by accident rather than design, and I saw many glimpses of things that I thought would cause us problems. I posted that they were resergent and @CroJack correctly pointed out that they had lost their last 4 games but I was talking about performance rather than results and they have a striker in Puscas who is always a threat to a dozy defence. Okay, he didn't score but I had noted a fit, energetic and physical team with a few players who had that bit of flair that cause problems. And they caused us problems......... as I feared.

In that second half there were some pretty awful performances that I could see coming from some sloppy work in the first half and I said as much to JF adding that one goal was never going to be enough. Byers, who I like, was guilty of some terrible passing, missed tackles and generally went missing. Much the same could be said of Celina and, to a lesser extent, Grimes. Our midfield became abysmal, a total vacuum in fact, and Cooper left his substitutions far too late to address the situation. Meanwhile, Reading climbed in and seized the initiative that they never lost.

I thought that Borja was immense and that Ayew had a very good game; understanding that others do not share the same view of Ayew. In the first half Ayew played some great stuff including that assist and his quality showed. No question about it because I looked for it. And saw it. As did others around me who repeatedly applauded his efforts. Ah, but that goal, the equaliser. Well take a look at the video. Ayew was doing the job he was supposed to up front supporting an attack. But we lost the ball and Reading attacked down the centre/inside left channel. Ayew put his head down and chased back to try and help defend by which time Reading were on the edge of our box. Ayew tried to get involved but before he could, the ball was played out wide right to their full back who was in space. And he was in space because NAUGHTON our left full back had also moved to the centre to try and deal with the threat there. He shouldn't have done this because we had numbers back plus Ayew who had bust a gut to get back and help. Their FB was left in splendid isolation to fire home. Ayew's fault? Maybe in an ideal world he would have bent his defensive run out wide but HE HAD EVERY RIGHT TO BELIEVE AND EXPECT THAT NAUGHTON HIS FULL BACK WAS IN POSITION AND DOING HIS JOB. That he wasn't was not Ayew's fault. Ayew had done all he could to run back to try and help but if Naughton had been focused he would have been out wide marking his man. I guess some will disagree but that's my take based on the hard evidence of the video.
