Ex England manager, the late Graham Taylor:

Agents do nothing for the good of football. I'd like to see them lined up against a wall and machine-gunned..... some accountants and solicitors with them.

Bat Masterson was a man of many parts - gunfighter; buffalo hunter; US army scout and gambler. He was also a US Marshall and Sheriff. As a close friend of Wyatt Earp he helped Earp clean up Dodge City and, in later life, became a respected journalist with a keen interest in boxing as an official and writer. He died of a massive heart attack in 1921 aged 67 after writing his final column, which included the following:

I suppose these ginks who argue that.....because the rich man gets ice in the summer and the poor man gets it in the winter, things are breaking even for both. Maybe so, but I'll swear I can't see it that way.

I think a most profound observation from a man who led a very rich, violent and varied life.

Detested sport that owes its pleasures to another's pain. William Cowper.

Wild animals never kill for sport. Man is the only one to whom the torture and death of his fellow creatures is amusing in itself. J.A. Froude.

No 'sportsman' wants to kill a fox or a pheasant as much as I want to kill him when I see him doing it. George Bernard Shaw.

Have you met my cat?
Actually honey badgers can be very aggressive and frequently fight for sport, not usually to kill though. They often take on lions and much bigger animals just for the hell of it and they do fight and kill snakes for food.
