We played with such pace, fluency, tempo and our movement off the ball was just superb. Monk was a journeyman player and became a journeyman manager. His coaching was an infection from which we never recovered. After Laudrup it was downhill all the way but the slide began with Monk. Okay he got an 8th place in the PL but he was living off the legacy of Laudrup - in much the same way that Cooper owed our brisk start last season to what had gone before under Potter.

Key Player
Gibbs-White is just 20, but he’s already played 50 senior games for Wolves. Youth, talent, experience ... does he have the drive to become a top player. If so, that’s a winning combination for us. A “Gallagher” with senior experience ... very good pick-up. Wolves are going to pack their squad with senior players to be successful with their competition load ... he’s not quite there yet, but they obviously like him a lot.

Our goalkeepers are frigging useless!! There were balls flying into the net left right and centre.

Read that Guehi is also about to sign again and Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves on his way as well. If this lad reaches his potential he could be a big player for us. Hits long passes; threads really subtle short balls through defences and likes to drive forward with the ball when he has space. If only Ayew could stay we might have a decent chance this season.

Gibbs-White has mixed reviews from Wolves fans I've spoken to. Few injuries and off-the-field issues (breaking lockdown to party with z-list celebs the most recent). Talent yes but a way to go to realise his potential.

I've just checked his stats and they are awful for an attacking midfielder.

In the past four years he played nine games from start, three in the Championship, and six in the Premier League. 17 as sub in the Championship, and 27 in the Premier League. He played 439 minutes over two seasons in the Championship in 2016/17 and 2017/18, and 777 minutes in the Premier League over two seasons in 2018/19 and 2019/20.

Four seasons:

0 goals in four seasons
1 assist in four seasons (the only one in the Premier League season 2018/19)
Shots per game per season: 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.3
Shots out of box per season & per game: 0.0, 0.0, 0.2, 0.0
Shots inside six yards box per season & per game: 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0
Shots inside penalty area per season & per game: 0.1, 0.2, 0.1, 0.3
Passing accuracy per season: 65.7 %, 88.1 %, 83.9 %, 79,7 %
Tackles per season & per game: 0.3, 0.2, 0.2, 0.0
Clearances per season & per game: 0.1, 0.3, 0.0, 0.0
Dribbles per season & per game: 0.3, 0.4, 0.2, 0.1
Interceptions per season & per game: 0.4, 0.2, 0, 0.3
Key passes per season & per game: 0.4, 0.5, 0.4, 0.4
Accurate crosses per season & per game: 0.3, 0.1, 0.2, 0.0

Whoscored rating per season: 6.12, 6.25, 6.20, 6.10

Celina and Byers beat this guy in all stats, not to talk about Conor Gallagher.

To sum it up:

He doesn't score or make assists.
He is shot shy.
He doesn't shoot out of box. At all.
He is never in six yards box.
His passing accuracy is as good as Celina's and Byers' passing accuracy.
He doesn't tackle.
He doesn't make any clearances and interceptions.
He is dribble shy.
He makes as many key passes per game as Jay Fulton who is a central defensive midfielder, and 14 Swans players make more key passes per game than Fulton.
Guehi, Hoorn and Cabango have as many shots per game as Gibbs-White who is ATM.

Saying all that, he could be valuable if he plays as a central midfielder, the same position Ki used to play for us but I am not impressed. Jay Fulton is much, much better as a central midfielder.
