OUR NEXT PM?

Let's not get into politics as we don't want the arguments the subject brings. But, just for fun, who do you THINK will win the race (not who do you want)?

Amazingly, I think Boris, for better or for worse, will do a 'Lazarus'. I'm reading that, if he gets the 100 names required to be included in the final vote, he will win. I don't know enough about it but I do know that Penny Mordaunt, whilst widely respected, hasn't enough top level experience just yet to be a realistic candidate. Rishi Sunak? Well, he has a great deal of top level experience but many Boris supporters hate him for his back-stabbing antics that helped depose Boris the last time.

It will be fascinating to watch this unfold and I'm not fussed about who wins so long as they start fixing this broken country of ours - with the proviso that hard times still lie ahead because of the effects of Covid and the war in Ukraine. No Government, of whatever party, can fail to be hugely hamstrung by those things.

I read that Boris has his “ton” of backers. Assuming Penny won’t qualify the party members love Boris and hate Rishi.
So we’re in for a comic relief scene within our downward spiral to oblivion.

I think it will be Boris. You just don't leave Bahamas if you don't have some kind assurances from your party fellas...

It will be Boris , who has already proved himself to be a selfish , lying, useless toerag . Have the tories forgotten so soon why they ousted him ?
Our country deserves better but there is not a single party or a standout politician who inspires me with any confidence for our future.
The current political system is broken beyond repair, 8m fed up of watching debates in the house of commons where only a small handful of mp's bother to attend.
They are all self serving hypocrites, who represent themselves and not the people of their constituency.
Rant over , but my disgust remains.

So Rishi Sunak is the new PM. If nothing else he is an intelligent person, and that's always a good start.

Apparently, had it gone to a shoot out between Boris and Rishi, Boris was odds on to win. But, seemingly, Boris withdrew because, as so many MPs were anti, he felt that the party would split meaning devastation at the next general election. Sensible, but I think he harbours the thought of being PM again some time down the line when the dust has settled. Meantime let's hope that Rishi provides a safe pair of hands to steer the country in the right direction.

Speaking of which, I hope his appointment as a Hindu will, once and for all, shut the bleats of those claiming that the UK is anti ethnic minority. Take a look at the number of EMs in parliament for instance with many of them in prominent positions. And, as for Penny Mordaunt, she appears to be a capable person and I'm sure her time will come when she has gained more experience.
