Done and dusted. Deserved the win. Torrid second half. Allen shows he has balls bigger than Barney’s Bull. We played some very cohesive football and shape at times. Players in some bizarre roles … Manning and Lati in particular but it worked well.

Wild scenes what a match for Joe Allen, getting the goal and into a row. Shame we had to give up 2 goals. Current and former Swans keepers conceded 6 goals tonight. Lee talked about taking chances in end to end play and counters. I know the Swans don't do it often but it's exciting when players get forward and get open chances.

Overall a deserved win against a good side going hard for the top six. We missed at least a couple of golden chances that could have taken the pressure of ourselves but saw it out in the end. And well done to Rocky Allen for sorting out motormouth Ryan Lowe. Shame about the red card but I reckon little Joe won on points. :D Some stats:

POSSESSION: 58-42 SHOTS: 12-6 OT: 7-2 CORNERS: 2-4 FOULS: 10-18 GOALS: 4-2

Preston were physical and it showed in the foul count but we weathered their storm and took the three points. Well done, lads.

Goals looked very well taken, it's hard to believe Allen hasn't scored for us in 9 years. The fight put a bad mark on a good night for him.

Martin now has the team playing in some strange configurations. For example, last night Manning was mostly pinned out on the left touchline, almost as a classic left wing, often playing further forward than Oli Cooper. Lati, also on the left side, was running forward with abandon too. Quite often we were left with two at the back - Cabango and Wood - or 3 if Darling dropped a little deeper on the right side. Preston started to exploit the gaps on our left side in the second half especially after Allen was replaced and other substitutes, which prompted a change to 3+2 with Lati moving to the right side and Manning dropping deeper.

I think Martin is trying to ape Pep's playbook where Pep often, for example, deploys full/wing backs in midfield to confuse the opposition. When we try it, it's usually us that gets confused rather than the opposition.
