Nobby RIP

Yankee_Jack

Key Player

Nobby Stiles, one of only three English men to have won the World Cup and the European Cup (who are the other 2 - one of them played for the Swans), has passed away at 78.

In the 60's, there was a small handful of players that you never wanted to cross ... Dave McKay, Tommy Smith, Norman Hunter, Ron Harris ... Nobby Stiles. They were all players not just choppers. A small player physically speaking but one of the biggest players on the field in terms of impact. Nobby was considered a world class player by Ramsey and set about his work meticulously - admired by both Busby and Ramsey - two greater references you couldn't hope to have in the game.

Bobby Charlton and Ian Callaghan (World Cup squad member). Nobby showed that you didn't have to be big to be tough and he was a feared tackler in an era when there were plenty of those about. Wasn't he Preston manager in the season when we beat them to go up? - they were relegated.

RIP, Nobby, you were a real dog in the best football sense of the word.
