it does seem crazy how it got to court. I didn't realise Kev's son got convicted for some grim charges until recentlyKevin Johns acquitted of all charges. From the brief look I've had of the transcript of the case, I don't see where the evidence to charge him came from in the first place. It seems to me that it all boiled down to one person's word against another over something alleged to have taken place some decades ago. Memories are bound to have faded and dulled over such a period and there was no 'hard' evidence presented of any sort.
I'm not saying the incident didn't take place but Mr Johns has been formally cleared and, in the absence of anything to the contrary, that should be accepted. However, the argument that this case wasn't brought about to obtain compensation because it was too complicated a process to do, is laughable. Much more complicated cases have been brought to court over the years in an attempt to swindle money from a settlement. Not saying that this applies here though, just that it does happen.

I thought the gofundme is a worse idea, I'm sure he has more money than the majority of the people donatingThere's rarely any smoke without fire. He wouldn't have been arrested, arraigned and proceeded through criminal process otherwise. There's having sufficient evidence to charge and then sufficient evidence to convict not necessarily the same. Ideally a person wouldn't be charged if there wasn't a sufficient case to convict. But, I guess that can happen.
How he offsets his legal bills is his business.
Putting his name on the RJ WoF is taking this way too far. The WoF should stand for a standard of excellence; getting aqcuitted of a criminal charge doesn't meet that standard. There are probably countless dozens of people over the course of decades that have served the club with distinction, with and without compensation, that are not on the WoF. If his service deserves to be recognized give him a clock or whatever token passes for that these days; but let's not lower the standards in a ripple of compassion that will dissipate in short order and then he'll be the name on the wall that was put there after being acquitted of child molestation charges ... there's a legacy for RJ's Wall for you.
