It's great to see the club recognising the worth of these youngsters. And for them to commit to the club. It's great for me to see attractive football played by my team.
I would like to see us reach the playoffs, but, please, don't get promoted!
These bright young lads who are extending their contracts should ask themselves "if the club had somehow avoided relegation, where would I be?"

C'mon BTG, would you really want to go to Wembley to watch us lose.? This is what these youngsters are playing their hearts out for, and I think promotion would be our only chance of keeping them.

Take your point, JF. But these guys "weren't good enough for the quad" this time last year. You'd see this comment on any Swans website about Grimes, Fulton,McBurnie. Does one year make such a difference? What happens if we are promoted?
Splash the cash to stay up? These guys are sold or loaned.
Stay loyal to the squad who got us there? I think that other M4 team are trying that, not very successfully.
And, personally, if we're promoted I have to go and see us struggle.

And I take your point BTG, but the comparison between the football played by us compared to the (football??) dished up by Warnock in this division, a blind man could see it was never going to work in the Prem. We are short of an out & out striker ATM. The fact that they were deemed to be not good enough for the squad last year must surely now be a big tribute to Potter, as the majority of the media class us as being one of the best footballing sides in the division. The season is a little over three months old, and the progression of these youngsters in that time is beyond most fans belief. We still have over six months of the season to go, so I personally will withhold my judgement until then. I agree there's every possibility of the squad being raped, for want of a better word by the yanks, which will be inevitable if we don't get promoted, and the following season would more than likely then see us battling relegation rather than promotion.

My ideal would be to keep the basic squad intact with a FIT Bony should we get back to the PL and add two or three 'value' quality players to deepen the squad. I think that would be good enough to keep us up....... IF we do go up.

Thanks @Borini I had read that. When Bony does come back he'll need time to get match fit/sharp as opposed to the training ground version. I hope that he'll be used as an impact sub initially to make sure that he is over his injury.

This season is our best chance to get promoted.

If we don't get promoted these players whose contracts expire in 2019 will leave us for free: Naughton, Olsson, Bony, Fer, Narsingh, Routledge. And these players will be sold in the summer to the Premier League clubs if they continue to perform: Rodon, Roberts, Celina and James.
