What a match this could have been. If only if!.

We are restricted by league rules from making wholesale changes to the starting XI and the players on the bench. Hopefully we will get to see Benda in goal. We know what Nordfeldt can't do; we don't need to see another rendition of that.

Curt is apparently going to receive a guard of honor today before the game. Very well deserved. Here (Curt's favourite goals | Swansea City FC ) he discusses his favorite goals. As a player, the one v Leeds ... the one! And then as a coach, the goals by Michu in the away win at Arsenal.

Could be a difficult game as they have all to play for and we don't. But knowing us, with the pressure off, we might surprise them. I don't think that will happen as the season has now become something of an anti-climax for the lads: but I'm going to let my heart rule my head and go for a 3-2 win. :) After all, Oli will want to up his goal tally if nothing else.

Potter is too honest to field anything but his best team, he has said as much this week. I'd say an unchanged side.
I'm expecting us to keep our unbeaten record for this year with young Daniel setting up an early score. Surely every opposition coach has drummed into his defenders what to expect from him, but they are still surprised when it happens.

YET AGAIN our defenders don't have a fucking clue about how to defend a set piece. :poop::poop::poop::mad: Yet again it means that our striker/mids have to score at least two to win.

Derby playing at a higher level all around. We're playing like a team of strangers.

Not seeing anything from Mckay.

Sounds as though we're making more of a game of it second half due to Potter's changes. Commentator praised Routs' sharpness in snaffling the chance. He also said that the Derby scorer was completely unmarked. Just who the hell does 'coach' our defence?

Mich better second half. John and Fulton both showed worthy. Grimes again a quietly solid and sharp performance.

Better second half and I suppose a point is okay given that we had nothing to play for and Derby certainly did. And the commentator said that we could have won it. Pity about our set piece weakness and I hope that some intensive coaching will be drummed into our defenders before next season.

Since our dead ball kicking is a tad on the lame side ... we need to develop more trickery on our near box free kicks. We tried a few earlier in the season but we haven't persisted. If I recall Sig used to put in some serious practice of free kicks after training ... Grimes should a look back on practice notes and put in some time.

An entertaining game with Derby the better team in the first half but an excellent second half showing from the Swans..
DJ wasted in the middle if we are not playing balls over the top or through the inside channels.
Defence fucked up again from a corner !
Had great company tonight with @Victoria Swan using borinis ticket to watch the game alongside me. We also had the pleasure of briefly meeting @Behindthegoal prior to kick off.

Last game Sunday ( put some money on Danny Graham getting on the score sheet ) then we have that awful silly season period when the Wanks will do their best to sell off half our squad again.
Roll on August when we can begin to hopefully mount a realistic challenge for promotion next season.

Hey, it works both ways @The Blobster - had a great time with you, especially in the second half when we started playing football! Thanks to you and @Borini for the chance to see the game from such a great vantage point and with passable company! Also nice to witness Curt's well-deserved standing ovation that went on forever. Glad to be a part of the chat room and such a welcoming group of fans. Back off to maple syrup land again ....

Certainly sounded like the proverbial game of two halves and Potter's changes definitely improved the performance. We would have such hope and promise for next season if this squad can be kept together. All it needs is the investment in the club that was promised on takeover.

Some stats:

POSSESSION: 57-43 SHOTS: 12-13 OT: 6-4 CORNERS: 4-8 FOULS: 7-16 GOALS: 1-1

We had a decent 50% of shots on target but the interesting stat is the foul count. Like many teams at the top, Derby had no compunction about committing fouls to stop us and break our momentum, with over double our foul count. It proves again that some dirty stuff has to be mixed in with the pretty football to get consistent results. If we could add some physicality to our existing game, I reckon that that alone would be worth a half dozen more points in the season.

But, whatever, the lads gave it a pretty good shot when you consider all the adverse factors that Potter had to deal with from the outset and it would be brilliant if this squad could be given the chance to start next season with a clean slate.
