Been totally pissed off recently with all the cheating that's taking place in sport You had that British sprinter done for drug abuse which cost his relay team mates their medals. But a lot of it seems to be down to the officials/referees who are SUPPOSED to be neutral. The recent penalty that was disallowed in the Everton/Citeh game? It was as blatant an offence as you could see yet it wasn't given by the VAR official. Frank Lampard received an aplogy but what frigging use was that with Everton needing every point they can get for survival? And the motive for that decision? I know what I think!!
Then there was the 'try' that England 'scored' against Wales. There was an obvious offence in the lineout that was highlighted in post match coverage. But despite Wales' captain Dan Biggar politely asking for the TMO to look at the incident, he was REFUSED! WHY??!! The TMO is paid to review such things yet he refused to do so when his attention was drawn to the incident. Had he looked, he would have seen what the rest of the world did but he didn't look, so again I ask, WHY NOT?? What was HIS motive? As before, I know what I think.
There have been various other examples as well but by far the worst, in my opinion, was the disgusting decison awarded to Josh Taylor who was defending his world titles against Jack Catterall. I watched that fight and know how to score as some family members have been boxers, boxing referees and judges for much of their lives. They taught me from when I was a youngster less than 10 years old. This was the biggest case of daylight robbery that I have ever witnessed in boxing as Taylor was awarded a split decision when he clearly lost by a BIG margin. The only people in the hall who watched the fight that thought Taylor won was Taylor himself, his corner and two totally incompetent or corrupt judges.
The TV commentators and pundits (ex boxers) were totally gob-smacked and even the fight promoter who was ringside said he was disgusted and embarrassed by the decision. Live on air, words such as 'corrupt' and 'fix' amongst many others, were used to describe the farce that had just taken place. The BBBoC have said that they will hold an investigation but cannot reverse the result. And Paddy Power bookies said that THEY WOULD PAY OUT ALL BETS TAKEN ON CATTERALL TO WIN DESPITE THE FACT THAT OFFICIALLY HE HAD LOST!!! That will give an idea of just how terrible this decision was.
Catterall had spent years waiting and training for this fight and his opponent's battered face was evidence of his efforts to win it. Instead he was robbed of four world title belts and the riches he would have earned in future defences of them. It's nothing short of a disgrace. He fought a brilliant fight against an unbeaten world champion (Taylor is regarded rightly as one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world) and got bugger all for it because of the dodgy decisions reached by two judges. Once more I ask, what were THEIR motives? I can tell you that I read hundreds of comments online from the general public and many from professional boxers and NOT ONE OF THEM AGREED WITH THE DECISION.
It's now generally agreed that it has to have been a fix. But the big question is, what is going to be done about it? What action will be taken against referees/officials involved in such things. For me, they should be prosecuted then kicked out of their jobs. And don't get me started about that cheating arsehole Michael Masi who brazenly broke the rules TWICE in full view of the world to cheat Hamilton of his 8th world title. Losing his job is not enough of a penalty and that should be the case for every CHEAT.
