Can we skin the Tigers ?

We don't need any more injured players that's certain. Ronald is excellent, a joy to watch. We haven't had a player with confidence on the ball since Ayew. He is making a huge difference in our attack and possession.

I like that we didn't turn defensive when we scored, we were pressing for a second goal until the last minute of extra time. Finally get a much needed win.

We didn't play particulary well but we deserved to win this game. We had more shots and shots on target, and we created better chances.

Maybe not the greatest performance but then we were facing a form team going hard for the play-offs on their own turf. We managed to produce a pretty decent performance and the radio comms were well impressed with our display. As EVERYONE knows in football, strikers need games to find their top gear and Williams has to give Cullen more time as our starting 9 to find his best form.

Picking him occasionally isn't good enough. Playing him anywhere except his natural position isn't good enough. Always being subbed isn't good enough. Quite simply he is our best finisher. Quite simply he has to be treated as such. Quite simply Williams needs to learn that lesson. Quickly!!! Some stats:

POSSESSION: 58-42 SHOTS: 9-13 OT: 3-5 CORNERS: 2-4 FOULS: 7-10 GOALS: 0-1

In addition Kevin Ratcliffe, who was a world class centre back, has also added his name to the list of Cull's admirers and actually stated in commentary today that he's the team's best finisher. How much more evidence does our manager need? Is he arrogant enough to put his opinion above all those others who think that Culls should be the first pick up front? Listen to good advice, Mr Williams, the sign of a wise man.

PS: @jackodiamonds didn't post today because he was paying a flying visit to see me and caught the last part of the match.

PPS: Haven't watched the highlights yet but I understand that Cull's goal was another one-touch effort. Always the mark of a top finisher.

Saw it late last night. It was good all round to be fair. And credit to Mr Sheehan because he's the one who devised it according to Luke Williams.

As for our manager is he being stubborn or stupid? Reading his comments today where he still seems unconvinced about Cullen. He did praise him but it appeared as though it was a luke-warm (no pun intended) reaction. In the next sentence he waxed on enthusiastically about how well Yates is playing and his great work rate. Ye Gods!! Have we been watching the same Yates recently? And, apart from that, what about the fairly simple chances he's butchered? But there you go, if you're the teachers's pet you can do no wrong and if your name is Liam Cullen you can't do much right. There's none so blind as they who won't see. And I put football managers firmly in that category.
