Just saw the highlights. Couple of thoughts:
- Lowe's goal came because he decided to run at a couple of players with the ball. Nice to see a Swans player actually dribble past some guys for the first time in living memory, and look what happens. I love that he was clearly motivated to do something and went and did it. Must have been annoyed at how passive the overall performance was. When he received the ball he was completely alone - how many times have we seen a backwards pass or slow-play hold-up in that situation instead? His touch and cross on Fulton's goal were excellent. I'm not saying Lowe is Messi but it'd be nice if some of the other outfielders could raise their game to match.
- Humphries is too casual. That chance where he was caught trying to dribble out of his own area - after Rushworth came to the rescue, he held his hands up to admit it was his fault, yet look at his actions immediately after being dispossessed - he gives up on the play almost completely, jogging back, watching the Ipswich player shoot, expecting a goal. There was another Ipswich player (#27) who could have scored off the rebound and who Humphries could easily have covered if he'd run back and fought to recover the situation, but he didn't. He was happy to let them score, or for others to fix it.
- Cullen's second yellow wasn't even a foul. Ashby shoulder-charges the Ipswich player side-on, which is legal, and the Ipswich man goes down because Ashby was stronger. Cullen was following so when the Ipswich player went down, Cullen fell into the back of him because he had nowhere else to go, and he also went down. I guess it looked like Cullen rugby tackled him from behind, but there was no foul on that passage of play.
Ipswich obviously the better team regardless. Be nice to see more of Lowe's attitude throughout the squad and less of Humphries. Can't do anything about the refs though eh?
