BRUM ZULUS AWAY

Let's hope we show a bit more creativity up front and security at the back or we will be mullered here !

Brum play some tidy football, sharp up front and resolute in defence , we will be in for a hard shift Tuesday night .

Birmingham are much better defensively than Swansea. They have conceded only 8 goals from open play and 16 goals in total, though 5 from set pieces.

They create many chances, mostly from set-pieces and counter-attacks but they don't score much. 10 goals from open play, 6 from set pieces and 3 from counter-attacks.

When it comes to possession and passing accuracy they are one of the worst sides in the Championship.

Scott Hogan (scored 8 goals so far this season), Deeney, Bacuna, and Chong ere their most dangerous players.

Have no confidence whatsoever in coming away with anything. We are too error prone at the back; Piroe looks like he's on holiday up front and there's no energy at all in the way we play - it's all probe, probe at walking pace until we lose the ball when there's every chance of conceding a goal from one blunder or another. If we play at our best we can win but lately how often can we say that?

When Martin is rotating as he has been then we seem to get a different rendition of musical chairs every match. The appearance of a back 4 in the last match completely bolloxed the team up - defensive assignments were missed on set pieces etc. Fulton performed adequately as the lone pivot but the rest were having a struggle and I'm disappointed in Piroe .... he's just not up to spec for this league and he'll never make it in the Prem. With him in a #8 role we are lacking in a number technical facets of the game. And, as @ivoralljack as pointed out a soft penalty, softly taken that would have been stopped by a more athletic keeper.

So, what will be the flavor of the day against Brum. 🤷‍♂️ I don't know and I'm pretty sure neither does Martin. I hope the Lati as the Captain Marvel experiment has been retired. And, please if we're going to go with a back 4, can we start the one acknowledged, Prem grade RB on our books ... Naughton. The only player capable of playing multiple roles in one match is Grimes, which he did amazingly well in Potter's cup tie against City. Lati is not even close to that league. He came to us as a CB, and he can't even make it as the guaranteed starter in that role.

3+2 at the back. Darling returns to the CCB role .... 🤬

Ntcham and Cundle behind Piroe. Sleepy gets the start at #9. Mr ShootingBoots (Ntcham) gets a start. Cooper to the bench with Obafemi.

No Cullen anywhere. I'd be maneuvering for a loan in January if I was him ... time is not his friend and he's withering on the vine under Martin.

Hogan can put them away. Deeny is good on a wager to score. Swans haven't beaten them since July 2020 the pandemic season. Oba and Oli starting on the bench is worrying. I bet we defy all laws of physics and good sense to win 4-1. Darling, Manning, Cundle and Piroe to score.
