A chance for redemption or another hapless outing ?
Boro in the mix for the playoffs So they won't be sitting back in 2 banks of four and it should be a more open game .
A point here would be good , let's hope we show some effort and pride .
Hats off to the travelling Jack's who have yet another foray into the far north .

I harbour no great hopes of getting anything at all from this game given our last two abysmal performances. I don't think that the players have the character, the fight or anything else that'll be needed to avoid a comprehensive defeat. I think the best we can hope for is a draw and I'll be thankful for that being honest. And I agree with Blobs about the travelling Jacks. It's a shame that the players don't have it in them to at least express their thanks for the support by putting in a performance. That's what you get for having a captain who seems unable to inspire and motivate his team.

Listening to Talk Sport this morning and Dean Saunders was talking about Brian Clough and Peter Taylor during their successful stint at Forest. Seems the way they looked to sign new players was firstly to identify the talent then have a chat with them at a hotel somewhere. The purpose of this was to assess whether the player had sufficient character to become part of their team. They already knew the player was talented else they wouldn't have wasted their time talking to him. But if they deemed that the player's character wasn't up to scratch then they walked away. In their opinion the right CHARACTER was the most important attribute they looked for in a player.

They were not alone. Years ago I listened to a radio show where a top manager of a Premier League club (for the life of me I can't remember who) said exactly the same thing. He also considered that the right character was more important than ability in a player although, obviously, a player had to have good ability before they'd talk to him. But if the player didn't show the character they were looking for, no deal! The manager took this view and all his scouts and recruitment staff were made aware of what they were looking for in a player.

I say this because I mentioned on this thread that I didn't consider Grimes to have the character or the leadership qualities that our team needs - despite the fact that someone close to me knows him well and says he's one of the nicest guys you could hope to meet. I'm sure he is, but is that enough to take our team forward?

Grimes is night and day different when Allen is on the field alongside him. Grimes is not the spark plug we need in midfield. There are reasons Grimes is still with us and not at a "bigger" club. @ivoralljack ... you've hit on one of them

One question.

Can you point out one player in our squad that you are particularly excited about?

I can't.

Neither can I, but I’d like to see more of Abdulai. From the glimpses I’ve seen of him with the first team and U21 I’m optimistic about what he can deliver.

Looking at the table and the clubs above us, that we have seen play dreadfully bland football, I think it’s fair to say that over the coarse of the season the Swans have underwhelmed, underperformed and underachieved. Duffer was bad decision from the interview forward. Sheehan did a decent job in terms of organizing, motivating and harvesting points. Williams has been a disappointment so far.
