Comms saying that we're now playing as we should have from the start. The question is, why didn't we? Complacent players? No managerial motivation? Well, we've 9 minutes of added time to save it.

Robinson says it should have been on target; that he's never seen a game where set-pieces have played such a part.

Forget the closing minutes, it's what went on, or didn't go on, for the great majority of the game that counts. During that time we were abysmal and looking like relegation fodder against a decidedly average team. I can't comment in detail because I didn't see the game but, believe me, the comms didn't like what they were seeing and said so in no uncertain terms.

Whilst we came back into it towards the end, a major reason for that is that WBA started to panic when the momentum shifted. Prior to that we just stunk the place out. We made mistakes galore, totally lacked intensity and effort (on which Duff has set out his stall so publicly), our passing was awful and ability to retain any decent possession almost non-existent.

This wasn't an unlucky near miss. We turned in a mistake riddled dreadful performance and were easily second best for most of the game. On this evidence, along with the one against Brum, we can forget a tilt at promotion because we'll be too busy making sure we aren't relegated!!

That last comment about "when the ball is in our box we need to clear it, it's not rocket science" - Martin likely would have told them not to clear it but to play out from the back instead. Sounds to me like the players who remain from last season are still showing bad habits from Martinball, and the new guys haven't had time to bed in.
