Five Swans’ Academy players on the field … Ben, Rodon, Roberts, Allen, James. Half the team. Testimony to the work and systems that started with Martínez … now managing the #2 national team.

Phew!! Good game and we missed excellent chances to put it to bed. I thought Ukraine were great, played some very good football and never stopped trying. Hand on heart I'm so sorry that they missed out. Both country and team deserved better.

At least in Qatar the likes of Bale, Ramsey and Rodon will have time to train and get a lot fitter than they were today and, of course, with games coming thick and fast in the finals, they'll get more match fit and help the team play much more to its potential. Well done, lads, brilliant. But I'm gutted for Ukraine at the same time.

Next WC (World Cup) will be 48 teams in groups of 3. Probably sill change the rules to make it easier for Italy to get in. This is well deserved for Wales, and they march into a great group.

The Club have two current players in the squad: Allen and Cabango.

The Club have a total of 6 academy products in the squad : Allen, Cabango, Ben Davies, Joe Rodon, Connor Roberts, Dan James.

Almost a quarter (23%) of the squad are Swansea boys. What a great advertisement for the Club, its tradition, and its academy. All being fit, we could probably see 5 out of the 6 starting in any one game - I'm thinking Cabango on the bench - so almost 50% of the starting XI being an academy product.

It's a shame Rodon is not getting a lot of minutes in France. There are so many injuries affecting teams. Any team could make a run this year.

Ntcham has been selected by Cameroon. That now makes 7 players with Swans connections at the World Cup. Impressive I would say.
