Martin singing Wood's ability in the press today saying he's going to become a big financial asset in the future. Wood made his debut for England U 21s recently so he will be getting attention from bigger clubs. I guess Martin is preparing us for his departure as, no doubt, the Yanks will be licking their greedy lips as they contemplate how much they cash they'll be pocketing.

It was against Croatia. Lost 2-1 with over 70% possession. Where have we heard that story before. England goal from Gibbs-White penalty very late in the game.

I'm reading that both Spurs and Arsenal are running the rule over Nathan Wood. So it looks like he and Piroe will be off if decent money is offered for them. Mind you, getting decent money off Levy's Spurs will take some doing!!

I would take the money for Wood and I think our owners would do the same! But he will have to be replaced along with Manning. We will end up overpaying out of desperation for players.

Latibeaudiere should fill his place , he is a centre half ,payed out of position this year + we have Darling as well , we are not short of centre backs, it's wing backs we need .
The yanks will accept a low value offer for Wood , they just look to sell for a quick buck, not to maximise their assets.

Lati is too slow and he is only 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in). At least Cabango and Darling are 1.88 (6 ft 2 in), but both have significant weaknesses.

In my opinion we need a good goalkeeper, two centre-backs better than Cabango and Darling, four full-backs, and a physically strong, tall striker.

I'm not kidding. We are probably going to lose Piroe and Whittaker in the summer transfer window. Also, Manning, Paterson, Cundle, Lati, Sorinola and Naughton are all gone in the summer. And if it's true Arsenal and Spurs are interested in Wood, then he could be sold as well.

  • Look, Piroe doesn't want to sign a contract extension, which means we'll be forced to sell him in the summer. Otherwise, he'll be a free agent in 2004. That could change if we are promoted and then offer him a good Premier League contract, but I don't think our owners are capable of a strategical thinking.
  • I'm pretty sure Rangers will want to sign Whittaker after a disappointing season they've had. Martin is obviously not a Whittaker fan, so I expect Whittaker to leave. And Martin is WRONG.
  • Manning is the best left back in the Championship, and left-footed players are always in demand. He will be 27 in June, and he wants to earn some money before his career is over. He is on £10.000 a week at Swansea, and we won't offer him £20.000+ a week.
  • Lati is one of the lowest Swansea earners, that's why he wants to leave. I won't cry when he leaves.
  • Paterson's contract won't be extended. Both the player and the club are disappointed with each other.
  • I wouldn't try to sign Cundle on loan again next season. He is a good player but in that position we need someone who can score plenty of goals. Cundle is not a goal-scorer.
  • I wouldn't be surprised if we sell Wood, and we'll sell him if Arsenal, Spurs, or any other club for that matter offer something like £5-10m.
  • Sorinola doesn't play anymore because Martin prefers Lati in his position, which must hurt. A centre-back takes your full-back place in the squad?
  • Naughton's contract expires in June, 2023 and I'm not sure he will get another extension because he is one of the highest earners and he doesn't play anymore.
Ok, who do we have if all of these players leave?

  • Benda and Fisher as goalkeepers. Maybe Im wrong but neither of them are what we really need - an experienced goalkeeper who can command his box and our defence.
  • Cabango, Darling and Brandon Cooper as centre-backs. Cabango is too slow, both Cabango and Darling have positioning problems, and we don't know much about Brandon Cooper yet. We need reinforcements in centre-back position.
  • Ogbeta as a left-back. How good is he? We need at least one more left-back, preferably an experienced one.
  • Garrick as a right-back? I don't think Martin is going to use him there. Ok, Darling could play as a right-back, but we need one more, preferably a dedicated one.
  • Kyle Joseph instead of Piroe? He has scored 7 goals in 26 full appearances in League One this season. Is he good enough?
  • Cameron Congreve instead of Cundle is an excellent solution. It's time for Cameron to get some regular playing time.
  • We can promote some youngsters from U23 and U21.
As you can see we'll need players both at the back and up front. The good news is we have some good defensive and central midfielders (Grimes, Fulton, Allen and Ntcham) + Oli Cooper, Cameron Congeve and Liam Cullen up front. Liam Walsh has been excellent and he can play as a second ATM as well.

I think Piroe and Whittaker are realistically gone next season as well although both are under contract. I believe Garrick is already gone and signed with Forest Green. Congreve would be a good addition to the 1st team squad. That list sums it up, I hope Winter and everyone has been busy scouting players.
