Williams is Gone

Agree with @Behindthegoal. We don't need a knee jerk reaction to this unless Coleman has courted, interviewed, agreed terms with a replacement and was waiting (perhaps until season's end) to pull the trigger.

Sheehan demonstrated an ability to get a tune out of the ill-coached and managed squad he inherited from Duffer. It can be argued that the squad is in better shape now than it was then - better keeper for one. I am optimistic that Sheehan can get a tune out of this lot although it may take a week or two to get the confusion out of their heads as to what system and shape they are/were supposed to be playing and to simplify things to the point where even players with two left feet could kick the ball in the right direction.

Sheehan is reported to have been one of the top coaches in the cohort getting their coaching licenses with. Recognized and respected by those running the program and fellow coaches alike. Not saying that Sheehan is the long term solution, but neither is he a lower league substitute for the real deal. Hopefully, by being granted control until the season's end, he can further demonstrate his credentials and up his value.

I am surprised that with the arrival of the new Director of Football, that this decision was taken. I guess the egg timer had run out with the last result and Coleman decided that to keep the same thing going was idiotic.

Williams' #2 and his analyst have also gone.

This leaves us with Sheehan, Margetson and KOL - club coaches - which I think is the essential staffing of every club. There is some experience with these three at club and international level, especially with Margetson. We are not running light here.

Well, that's good, but we missed a great opportunity to get rid of some of the players and sign some new ones when we had the chance. Now it's too late, and we've ended up with this bunch of losers for the rest of the season. I don't think Eom is suddenly going to start scoring goals and providing service for Vip and Culls. I don't think Tymon, Key, Cabango and Darling are suddenly going to block crosses and stop making suicidal passes that lead to goals.

We need to bring some new energy and physicality into the team. This means O'Brien, Franco, Cooper and Cullen must play in every game. Up front, we must start playing Ginnelly. He owes us. If he gets injured again, that's just how it is. We should give more playing time to Parker, Govea and other U23 players.

At least two months too late but better late than never, eh? We'll see how the team responds to Sheehan, without expecting miracles, whilst the players get used to the new regime and what's expected of them. But what we all want to see I'm sure, is the lads playing with much more focus and energy. That should be a given anyway for any professional footballer and the fact that our lot weren't doing it is a damning indictment of Williams' methods and how they seem to have stopped playing for him.

The signs have been there for a long time. Hopefully we haven't left it too late to turn things around. And I also hope that if Sheehan isn't to be our long term boss, the club will take the time and every care to appoint the right man for the job.

Agree ... time to play with gusto and play with those that can make shit happen. And, blood promising U23. If Darling doesn't want to sign then let's promote a CB from U23 and give him minutes as and when off the bench. Darling can rust in the stands. We just dispatched our leading U23 scorer to the MSL until the end of the year. Surely, this kid could have been just as effective as MPH, Bianchini or No-Zip. Fulton is yesterday's story - put Parker into midfield, actually put him as LWB.

Early days I know but the bookies have Des Buckingham as favourite at 3/1. Not thrilled by this as he was sacked by Oxford United recently. Other clubs on his CV include Wellington Phoenix and Mumbai City!! Hope our suits have got more sense. Other 'candidates' include:

Russell Martin 6/1; ???????? Rob Edwards/Alan Sheehan/ Gary O'Neil 12/1; Alan Tate/Ryan Mason 16/1; Steve Cooper/Cam Toshack/ Steve Gerrard 25/1. My NO WAYS are Martin, Tate and Cooper. Edwards likes a physical team which we are NOT but I think O'Neil is okay along with young Tosh. I'd like to see Slaven Bilic in there, a proven manager at this level who'd command instant respect. Trouble is our suits wouldn't like his no-nonsense approach and they'd probably faint at his wage demands.

I feel like most of these are the usual no-chance money-makers from the bookies. Wouldn't be surprised to see a completely different name come in, and even less surprised if Swansea stick with Sheehan until the season's end. He'll be doing enough if he can keep the ship afloat while the new DoF lines up an inspired summer appointment instead of the cheap and simplistic "hire a lower league manager based on one decent stat" nonsense we've had three times in a row now.

We've tried buying from the discount store, time to invest in somebody with a pedigree. I wouldn't mind Cooper again - at least he was the best of the last bunch by a long chalk. But, please let's wait until the end of the season to appoint, and then appoint somebody that doesn't prompt the question "who?".

Yes, the early runners are usually just names thrown in to get the book running. No surprise if a complete dark horse ends up with the job.

Former youth coach, Eric Ramsay, now installed as 2/1 favourite. He's currently with Minnesota United having had experience at Shrewsbury, Manchester Utd under Ten Hag and Wales under Robert Page - hope he didn't take on board anything from him!! There'll be lots of conjecture and rumour before we finally settle on our usual cheapskate choice.

Eric Ramsay ... a person who prompts the question "Who?"

So looking him up .... Eric Ramsay - Manager profile

He's done nothing but coach. Never played a game for any known club at any recognized level in his life. He is now 33, when he ran our U18 he was 22. KOL has more experience than this guy. Exactly what knobs are betting on this guy to make him favorite.

New Director of Football has landed ... out with the old, in with the New-Old ....

When somebody arrives and they are "star struck" by our facilities, which are now 10 year old by EPL standards, you know you've hired the wrong person. They are in too big a pond, looking up at the sun above the surface of the water, and kicking as hard as they can to get to the surface to snatch a breath of air.

We have to be hiring people that expect this is the way things should be (or better) instead of going WTF this is amazing.

"Luke is a fantastic coach" 🤦‍♂️

Another one who should say a big thank you to Jodi Jones, Daniel Crowley and Macaulay Langstaff.

Imagine this guy interviewing someone like Michael Laudrup
