To add something to these comments I see today that Whittaker has said he is 'devastated' to have been recalled. DEVASTATED!? How effective is he going to be then? It's obvious he doesn't want to be here; perhaps because he doesn't rate Martin who either doesn't pick him or plays him out of position when he does. Whittaker wants to be at Plymouth a division below, so what does that say about us as a club and Martin as a manager?
So when he does play where's his heart; where's his head? Not with us it seems. Whittaker achieving the goals and assists that he's been getting at Plymouth would be an undoubted asset but, after he voiced his reluctance to come back to us, I'm doubting his value to us, particularly if Martin starts messing him about which he surely will.
Despite the Watford win and the Burnley performance, I'm hoping with all my heart that Norwich don't take Wagner and sign our guy instead. We have a very decent squad who can threaten the top providing we use tactics that play to their strengths which includes being selected in positions they are familiar with. Martin is a meddler. He can't resist it. He has an image of the team he wants on the field and the way he wants them to play and dynamite won't shift it no matter how often he's proved to be wrong; that what he wants doesn't work with the players he has.
For instance, Cullen didn't score last time out and I reckon it's an even bet that he'll be benched for the next game even though he was better than Piroe. Any excuse will do for Martin and that's a damaging weakness....... for us.
