Do you remember the player who is, together with Fekir, Pogba, Messi, Kroos etc., in the Champions League Round 1 Team of the week?

In summer 2017, when I was in Croatia on holiday I watched Hajduk Split playing in the qualifying rounds of the Europa League. I posted on thejack.army that we should sign Nikola Vlasic, and I was mad at Swans' scouting network for not scouting in Croatia. He could've been bought for £2m because at that time Hajduk Split were in financial dire straits. Later on, Hajduk Split played Everton in the last qualifying round, and in August 2017 Ronald Koeman signed him. Unfortunately for Vlasic, Koeman was sacked in the begining of the 2017/19 season, and Big Sam sent Vlasic to play for U23. This season CSKA Moscow signed him on loan with option to buy. Interesting.

Good eye! Hindsight is a tough game!
I am wondering how come that people who live of scouting and who are supposed to be professionals can't see an obvious talent?

When we sacked Laudrup we got rid of Alejandro Pozuelo who is a wonderful footballer and who has been one of the Genk's best and most creative players in the last couple of seasons.

I’ve always found talent evaluation to be very tricky. Some players have the talent to universally play well in any squad or situation. However, I’ve found that the majority of players need to be in the right system with the right supporting cast to really achieve individual success. Trying to figure out how a player who is thriving in one set-up will translate to your set-up is a tough business.

Good points @LittlePuma . I am talking here about players who have the talent to play well in Swanselona squad. Technically gifted players who prefer through balls and creativity rather than crosses and physicality.

Of course, Vlasic and Poluezo would have been logical fits to the system.

You can include Monk and the Idiot in the 'supposed professionals' description. I always rated Pozuelo's ability and potential and said so many times on forum. Of course neither of those two would recognise talent if it bit them on the arse every day. What possible benefit can you get from a player with skill, flair, passing ability and pace? I can almost hear them saying it.

Mind you, after Laudrup was so shamefully back-stabbed, Poz wanted nothing more to do with them or the club. Not that he would have been wanted anyway by that pair of doughnuts. I shake my head in despair when I think that such people are making a good living out of football when they know fuck all about the game.
