Wales, represented by Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton, whitewashed England duo, Michael Smith and Rob Cross, 3-0 in the final of the World Darts Pairs. Whilst Clayton found some excellent form, it was Price who was the star man of the entire tournament. He was virtually unplayable at times and won every one of his games during the past few days. Makes a refreshing change to see Wales as world-beaters. Well done both of them. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

As a footnote to this, I've watched most of the darts tournaments in recent months. Gerwyn Price, according to fellow players and pundits, is one of THE players to be reckoned with right now. Probably only Peter 'Snakebite' Wright is on par with him. There's no doubt that MVG has fallen away and he's getting beaten on a regular basis by players that he used to wipe the floor with. He's still very good of course but his previous aura of invincibility has severly diminished.

However, the top pros are so good that they are all capable of beating each other in any given game if one of them has an off day. But Gerwyn and Wright appear to be the front-runners right now with both getting insane averages in competition along with incredible finishing. If Gerwyn can maintain his form to the World Championships, he might well win it. He'll certainly start as one of the favourites - and good to see that he's calmed down a lot now and paying due respect to his opponents.

The standard of darts has increased incredibly over the last few years.
Players are now calculating what numbers to leave from the 300 + point. The use of the bull for scoring and set up has increased dramatically, finishing your double in 1 or 2 darts is now essential. The number of players hitting high out shots is fantastic, I can only dream of playing with such consistency, and thats in practice not under competition pressure that they are performing under.!
In the past I played for Swansea in the Glamorgan league , my current standard would see me struggle even in a local super league .
