Wales v Austria

Sufficient but we have to be more clinical with our opportunities. We could have buried Austria, but turned it into close result

I can’t see Ukraine forming a team to play Scotland. FIFA will have to recognize that sooner than later and give Scotland a bye or replace Ukraine with another country.

It's always going to be tough in this playoff. I think of Croatia with a population of just 4 million. Made it to the final against France. Scotland and Ukraine won't be a walkabout

I wonder if FIFA will change the rules to make it easier for them and tougher for countries like Wales.
The FIA would for sure!!

As for the game we did well but made it hard for ourselves. Dan James butchered two one-on-ones and his limitations are becoming more obvious by the week. Take away his pace and he doesn't offer much else. Hell, even Neco Williams showed more trickery on the near touchline than Dan did in the whole game. Brennan Johnson a far brighter prospect for me because he can at least beat a man. And a nod to Joe Allen who worked his arse off on his own in midfield. We could use that sort of industry at the Liberty.

Finally, well done Gareth Bale with two worldie finishes. We owe you yet again.

I had one eye open for this one. Badly want to make it to the World Cup. If we don't make it at least we don't have to play in stadiums built by slave labor. How is it the American FBI charged those executives and FIFA is still a corrupt firm of individuals?

Because it’s an organized crime syndicate and when you remove one top level, the next level of corruption moves up.

fifa makes its nut every four years. The other three years are all about maximizing that return. The Sport has long ago been relegated to second place, if that, in its thinking. FIFA is a media money scavenger and extorter using football as the means to the end. This is why FIFA want to run the World Cup every 2 years instead of 4, which of course pisses on the parade of the confederations. There is no honor amongst thieves. If FIFA cared about football they wouldn’t try to do something that would financially hammer the confederations.

FIFA is running the World Cup 2026 in a 3 nation setup - USA, Canada, Mexico. Mexico is the only nation in compliance with rule 28 - promotion and relegation in its pyramid - which is why it is involved … purely to permit FIFA to ignore its own rule. Cities are now going to battle to be a venue for the matches. Let’s see what scraps Mexico gets out of that deal. Its payoff is that it automatically qualifies for the finals and a small slice of the pie. From FIFA’s perspective the USA is the goose laying the golden eggs - big stadiums, big media, big money. Canada🤷🏻‍♂️ … are probably involved out of pity and to keep them quiet - automatic qualification and a small slice of the pie as a bribe.

Bale was clearly the night and day between the two sides. He's getting flak from the Spanish media, and in the after match interview stated that he doesn't give a shit and they all piss off.

As @ivoralljack pointed out, James is currently an automatic starter, but FFS he has to up his game to continue with that status. He cannot continue to squander the chances he had. We don't need him on the left side as Nico is a clearly a threat on that flank, and Johnson, the sub that came on for James, more than looked the part, hit the target and forced a save from the keeper in his brief appearance.
