There won't be any play-offs

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo have revealed details of the contract signed by the European Super League clubs. It's now obvious why Real Madrid and Barcelona are still supporting the whole project. According to the contract, if Real Madrid and Barcelona won the ESL, then the prize money would be €600m for the winner. If any other ESL club won it, the prize money would depend on the global image of the respective club, whatever that means. With other words, the other clubs have risked everything just to play second fiddle to Real Madrid and Barcelona. Ridiculous.

It would appear this venture has collapsed due to fans pressure, seemingly these money moguls now realise where their football income comes from.
The relevant club owners now apologise to the fans, but only because their money making venture failed.
What has since come to light is a recommendation that fans should own a percentage of the club.
To us at Swansea that can be taken with a pinch of salt regarding what effect our toothless trust has on the running of our club.

Nothing to do with the fans pressure. They don't care about the fans. They were prepared to leave their respective domestic leagues.
It's something else: Putin, Gazprom, Saudi Arabia etc. Stay tuned.

The Trust was toothless because of the people involved. Governing bodies need to exact retribution for this act of insurrection. It cannot be tolerated.

This article (How the Super League Fell Apart) documents the level of duplicity on the part of Agnelli to the UEFA president. Apparently it was Laporta's disclosure to Tebas at LaLiga over lunch that tipped off the governing execs to what treachery was moving in the shadows. At this point, I think it is just Madrid and Juventus clinging to the project; others have slunk back in shame trying to limit their exposure to sanction. Barca's Laporta has blathered about needing approval from the Socio's; this is probably true, but he should have thought of that before committing to the Greed League to start with

Looks like there are going to be play-offs after all
Of course. I was joking when I wrote the title of this thread.

But, something is finally happening. And guess what? The Italian FA have just brought in new rule: The Italian clubs who still insist on joining the new European Super League won't get Serie-A licence for the next season, which means they will be expelled from the Italian league. Juventus and Milan have not withdrawn yet from the ESL.
