The US school shootings.

I hope the US police can sleep at night after stopping parents going into the classroom whilst listening to their children getting shot but not having the guts to go in themselves. It took a border guard to go in single handed and shoot the bastard. cowardice at it's worse.

Total shit show. Makes a nonsense of the gun lobby's policy (and that of the withering cowards of right wing politicians) of hardening security at schools to guard against this sort of thing. Duty, training and spine disappear when shit hits the fan ... weakest link every time. Not to mention that US police, when in a gun fight, have a propensity to lose all semblance of skill and blast bullets seemingly everywhere except at the target.

Unbelievable !!
There were 19 police officers in the school corridor for 45 minutes whilst the shooting was going on and all they did was call for reinforcements and more equipment.
The police now admit they wasted 45 minutes even when receiving telephone calls from terrified children within the classroom.
They say they regret not storming the classroom sooner. the truth is they didn't storm it at all. It was all down to a border guard to go in and kill him.
The 19 police say the were waiting for 45 minutes for the requested body armour to arrive whilst listening to children being shot.
I say it once again. UNBELIEVABLE,

Police standard equipment includes body armour. I don't understanding what they were expecting to receive in addition to standard issue.

Texas brass in the press briefing today stated that police training in Texas includes these scenarios and police are trained to deal with the shooter. Seems to me that when it all went down ... balls and brains went AWOL ... except in the class room amongst the kids that had the presence of mind to call 911 (i.e. 999).

I couldn't imagine being in a classroom that old when someone comes in with a gun. When I was 7 years old we had an 18 year who would beat us kids up. We were scared to death of him. We had no idea it wasn't normal. One of the teachers ended up beating him up and he later went on to spend time in prison.
