Not a joke as such but something amusing I recently read that reminded me of a much told tale.
Dai Young, former Welsh international prop and now manager of Cardiff Blues RFC, as an up and coming youngster went to play for Cardiff at Sardis Road, Pontypool, known 'fondly' as the "House of Pain" because of the legendary hard and tough players and teams they produced. Even occasional rugby fans will remember that their front row of Price, Windsor and Faulkner were nicknamed the "Viet Gwent" so uncompromising were they. If it moved they flattened it was their motto and no team EVER look forward to going to play at Pontypool. They were regarded as 'animals' from #15 to #1 but they were also damned good rugby players.
Anyway, young Dai was playing his first game against them and was heavily involved when the two packs clashed. Whilst the referee was busy trying to sort out the carnage and restore order, one Ponty player turned to another and asked, "Who's that guy over there?"
"Dai Young", he was told.
"He will if he tries that again", was the grim response.
