If Martin won 30 out of 80 = 37.5%, then he would have a better record than BoBo (18%), Carlos Carvalhal (33%), Paul Clement (32.4%), Guidolin (36%), Laudrup (34/5%), Sousa (36.7%) and .... Monk (36.4%) who we all hate.

And bested only in the modern era by: Martinez, Rogers, Andy Pandy, Potter, and drum roll please Curt (50%) in his last stint.

It is not fair to compare PL performances with the lower divisions. 30% in the PL is almost the magic 40 points. As for Sousa, we drew an awful lot of matches. I doubt that he LOST more than 30%.

I think thats a bit of an unfair assessment Yankee, when you consider the opposition, as BTG says. The majority of the games played then were against Premiership and Continental opposition,
I would doubt very much if the above you mentioned would have achieved positions lower than 19th & 13th respectively over a two year managerial period in Div.1
I sincerely hope the guy does well for all our sakes, but I think this possession and amount of touches has been blown out of all proportion, least of all by himself. Certainly didn't work at MKD's, and now faces tougher opposition. Lets forget 70% possession for a 0-0 draw as entertaining football, much rather see a 50% possession and a 3-0 win. That's what's going to keep us in this division.

You can only manage the squad you have in the division you play in. All things considered, you still have to extract the maximum from the resources at hand, which is why I think Sousa's 36.7% is a return that belies the quality of what he accomplished.
