When Piroe gets one on one with the keeper he seems almost, ALMOST I said, Michuesque with that left foot finish of his. For me, Michu was a one off and one of the best finishers we've ever had at the club. But Piroe definitely has shades of our dear Spaniard in front of goal and will only get better with games at this level. Some stats:

POSSESSION: 67-33 SHOTS: 9-10 OT: 3-6 CORNERS: 5-3 FOULS: 7-14 GOALS: 2-1

Some thoughts - with only a third possession WBA still managed more shots on goal than we did and had twice as many on target. It tells me that we are still a little shot shy although we didn't start playing properly until the second half. Also, Albion committed twice as many fouls as we did, which indicates the pressure they came under as we eventually turned the screw.

Speaking of fouls, I thought Ajayi was very lucky not to get a second yellow for his raised foot challenge. Greizman of Atletico got a straight red last night against Liverpool for an almost identical foul. I thought that was harsh but it defintely warranted a yellow as did that of Ayaji and he would have walked had it been given. Mind you, the nature of the game might have changed if he had gone and we might not have got the brilliant result we did. So all's well that ends well but I'd have been spitting blood and feathers had we gone on to lose the game.

But we didn't lose. :) So a HUGE well done to Russell Martin and the lads. I said I was looking for improvement and I got it. Big time!! Now IF we can maintain this rate of progress, being only 4 points off the play-off places, there's every chance that we can make them for a third consecutive time. And, if we do, I can honestly say that I don't fear any team that we might meet there. Well played lads. Just keep it up.

There was one on Piroe I thought was called offsides when he was on. But most of them were correct. A lot of missed fouls I thought the linesman should have

Time for a new nickname? Blackburn had their SAS (Shearer and Sutton) now we seem to have our version starting to bear fruit of PAP (Piroe and Paterson). If they achieve anything like the success of SAS here comes the Premier League at a rate of knots! :ROFLMAO:
