Conclusion:
Against Stoke, Potter used different tactics compared to counter-attacking style used in our first six Championship games.

This was the first time this season that our passing accuracy exceeded 80%. We tried to create our chances through passing patterns and triangles, and some of our attacking moves were really good.

It was only the second time this season that opposition played less than 30% of time in our third but 28% is still too high.

Our attack and shot directions were balanced, and that's good.

We didn't dribble as much as we did in our previous games. As mentioned before, we based our attack more on triangles and through balls, which is good.

In our previous games, 40+ % of our shots were outside penalty box. Against Stoke, only 29%.

We attempted as many tackles and committed as many fouls as Stoke.

We tackled and fouled more in opposition halv than we did in our previous games, but we still need to improve our pressing game.

Carter-Vickers was our best player. He had some impressive stats: 8 clearances, 6 aerials won, 95% passing accuracy, third most passes, 2 tackles, 2 interceptions, 1 shot, 1 key pass.

Our second best play was Naughton. Here are his stats: 4 clearances, 3 interceptions, 3 aerials won, 2 tackles, 1 shot (on target), 1 successful take-on, though his pass success was not so good.

Our third best player was Grimes: most possession, 90% pass success, 3 tackles, 1 interception, 1 clearance, 1 successful take-on, 1 shot (off target).

Thanks for all that, very informative.
Two things stand out.
McBurnie 100% pass rate?
Good job we didn't pursue that Woods chap, he was dispossessed FIVE times! Our board obviously know a thing or two about football.
I haven't been able to watch the match yet. It sounds like I'm in for a treat. (Apart from the result).

First half was great.... Second half we were second to everything.
Something we commented on as we watched the match. Read lots of reports on this game and most of them say that we ran out of steam as the game went on. I've said it so often on here (as have others) that football is a 90+ minute game and playing well for 60/70 minutes doesn't cut it.

There's a nice article about George Byers in WOL saying that he had a good game but tired in the second half. No doubt Potter and his staff are working on this and we accept that certain players without decent game time will struggle in the latter stages. But his style of football relies on pace in attack, pass and move, and this requires high fitness levels from his team. Hope to see this improve as the season progresses.

Good to see young Byers starting to make his mark, as many of us thought he would, and he will become a very good player for us as he gains match fitness and experience. And Matt Grimes is also doing well and getting better by the game.

If we play 4 at the back with VdH and Rodon as CBs, it occurs to me that with those stats, particularly his passing accuracy, CCV could play as a tough DM for us. He's a big unit for sure and I believe he's played there before. Saw a comment that with those thighs he could be Bony's love child! :ROFLMAO:

3. James and Byers get more and more time on the pitch and get better and better
4. Baker-Richardson is a promising player
5. Reid, Maric, Harries and Biabi are (almost) ready to step up

Absolutely. Cameron and his own staff have excelled. Their record in the U23 competitions has been superb and, as you say, CJ, the youngsters are now starting to come through and will serve us well in the future. Who knows? We might see another 'Golden Age' of Swansea footballers when the Allchurch brothers, the Charles brothers, Cliffy Jones and Terry Medwin all came through our ranks at the same time along with the likes of good old Harry Griffiths etc. I remember when we could field a five man forward line in the old WM formation that would be worth well over £250 million on today's transfer values.

If we just had different owners...
