If the reports are true about Warnock agreeing to manage the last 4 games and the owner Tan rejecting it, then we are lucky. I hope we never make the same mistake and stick by a manager for 36 games with a record like Rizas. I hope our board and owner's are paying attention to that situation.

Over the last 6 games: Plymouth, Luton and Derby are busting a gut. They are all earning 50% points played for. Cardiff and Hull not so much. If this rate continues then Cardiff and Hull are down and Portsmouth or one of P/H/D are going down too. Portsmouth are at risk. Not factoring in remaining fixtures, but as we have shown when the chips are down its 11 v 11 on the field and past performance is no guarantee.

Under Sheehan we are learning how to suffer and be resilient. We are building upon it as a platform to win and harvest points al la Burnley.

Came across this … being resilient against the odds:

Let me try to say it in Welsh English:

I tell you now, since Sheehan’s taken charge, we’ve been solid as a rock at the back, isn’t it. Boys been graftin’, winning the ball back everywhere. Franco and O’Brien, fair play to ‘em, they’re like a pair of sheepdogs in that midfield — chasing everything down, nicking it off their toes. And Ronald, flying back for a tackle in our third — tidy stuff, that is. You seen the full-backs lately? Blocking crosses like their mam’s told ‘em they’re not coming home if they don’t. Under Williams, mind, they’d stop one in a hundred if we were lucky. Seven clean sheets in ten? That’s promotion football, butt, no question. 😂😂😂😂

Swansea independent have published an article on Sheehan. They say that during midweek talks Sheehan outlined his requirements to take on the post full time . As a result of this a comprehensive contract was drawn up and Sheehan and his agent will meet with the suits next week to either amend or accept the offer .
Let's hope that all parties involved can reach an amicable agreement quickly .
Expect an announcement early next week .

I have seen that, I think he deserves it to be fair. But I don't expect him to have a lot of grace with the board If he doesn't get results early next season.

I bet it's possible the board offers him an insulting contract so they can hire someone else.

I think that Sheehan deserves his chance and should be appointed. But too many managers get fat contracts to the detriment of the club who are faced with a substantial compensation payment if the manager flops and has to move on. And most managers do flop and then move on to another well paid job where they often flop again. Football is definitely a sport that rewards failure and bad judgement and it has to stop.

Remuneration should be results orientated. A decent basic salary should be paid, which then should be rewarded with a handsome bonus if success is achieved. But failure should NEVER be rewarded and it all too often is in football.

Finally ... Alan Sheehan appointed head coach of Swansea City | Swansea

Sheehan is the new head coach. 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏

Based on performance over two stints, the most recent being even better than the first, a thoroughly well deserved appointment.

Ironically, he starts with a record in percentage terms that makes him the best Swans manager/coach of all time. It can only go down-hill from here.🤷‍♂️

For the first time in years, I feel very positive about this coach and what next season holds. For the likes of Martin, Duff, Williams and even Cooper (the one with the best achievements of the recent crop), I was in a state of despair with their appointment. The Club now have to support Sheehan with smart deals on new players, settling contract extensions etc.

So if Sheehan flops during his first season we'll be liable for two years compensation payments on his contract. And the merry-go-round continues.

Sadly yes ... but that's the name of the game.

On the flip side, if we get promoted to the EPL, his first two seasons of comp at that level are locked in.

Yes there is that but it's all a gamble. I think that football has a whole should get its act together and address this problem. Dodgy managers, and I'm not accusing Sheehan of being one, flit from one club to another picking up compensation cheques for failure at each turn. Easy money when you can get it. Every managerial job should come with a season long probation period followed by the remainder of the contract if certain agreed standards have been met.

Every contract should employ a base salary with tiered increments based on club position after every 10 games or so, with a sequence of failures to meet expectation automatically triggering a club's option to terminate.

Pleased this saga has ended with a sensible decision. Overseas managers may look an attractive proposition but they will have no experience of managing in the unrelenting challenge that is the championship.
Whilst still having a lot to learn , with a full preseason and hopefully a successful transfer window to come I'm quietly confident that Sheehan will give us a team that not only entertains but brings positive results.
Let's hope the board back him , his results for us so far have been impressive.
I wish him nothing but good luck as our full time head coach .

The current players obviously like him so new players will be coming into a united dressing room, and getting the squad to gel is half the battle of pre-season.

Had Swansea appointed a new guy, suddenly an entire squad don't know where they stand or whether they'll like playing the new guy's football etc. Swansea have been in that spot a bit too often in recent seasons.

As long as Sheehan doesn't take his foot off the gas and keeps learning and improving then this should be a good decision.
