Sheehan

My big concern is making sure they have the manager situation sorted before the transfer window. A new manager is going to want to build the squad to his liking. I hope the boffins running the club have thought of that.

Sheehan has been appointed - official. And, looks like we also hired two coaches with some street cred. Step-up I’d say. Now we need to get the players to shift a gear and land a few more players in the summer that can play … no more hopefuls but can-fuls.

Club have given Sheehan what he asked for … now it’s up to him to deliver and prove.

Until the end of the season or a longer contract?
End of season at the moment. What happens beyond depends on Sheehan and his performance, and who comes knocking on the Club's door with an application. I would imagine that every decent out of work coach has an agent that is scouting opportunities for their client. We have to be mindful to reject lower level applicants and not listen to agent blarney ... way too much of that already. We need somebody with top level experience, tired of sitting on the bench, wants to get back into action and sees us as an opportunity to get back to competing at the top tier. Somebody who is willing to set their "philosophy" to one side and coach the resources given to deliver optimum returns ... we don't have the luxury to rebuild a squad over multiple transfer windows to suit the ego of a new head coach who, based on common experience, is unlikely to see out his contract anyway.

Just to note: after the Sunderland match, having managed a total of 16 over two seasons, Sheehan is currently our second best manager ever with a games won % of 50% and a pts/game earned of 1.75 (58%).

#1 is still Martinez, but it's getting tight. #3 is Joe Bradshaw (1919 - 1926). #4 is Cooper, #5 is Rogers, #6 is Jacket.

Over 46 games, at this performance, Sheehan would earn 80.5 points, good for a 4th place finish based on the current Championship table.

Seems other clubs have taken note of his recent success and there might well be some bids for his services. I hope this doesn't panic us into offering him a contract until we're absolutely sure he's the man. Plenty of good, experienced candidates out there - and I still like young Cameron.

Our last game of the season is May 3rd, this gives management say 3 weeks to figure it out and contract Sheehan or hire a replacement by the start of June to start the planning and preparation for next season.

If Sheehan keeps this performance going, I don't know what else he could possibly do to justify his appointment. Something like 90% of this squad will be next season's squad - he's proven he can produce the goods with this squad. It would be a bitter pill to swallow to step back and resume a role as the "Club Coach". It would be a total insult if a new manager insisted that Sheehan didn't have a role, and the Club dismissed him in preference of the new guy's best buddies. For me, unless Jesus applies and actually proffers a record with video of walking on water, I can't see who else the Club would consider.

Having said that, who would have thought Jenkins would have replaced Jacket with Martinez and turned the improbable into history. At the time of his removal, Jacket had the 2nd best managerial record in the Club's history.

For the sake of continuity Sheehan should be offered the job . The team responds for him and his results are reasonable , why risk a manager who has not managed in the championship ( the other two candidates are from abroad according to swansea independent ) Sheehan has shown he can manage against the best championship teams , he has proven he can prepare the team and provide tactics that they can implement , give him a 2years contract with an option to extend .
I like his modesty and commitment, with this season and the summer break to bring in his choice of player I would be comfortable with him leading us next season .

The players seem to be enjoying their football under Sheehan, and if they're happy, I'm happy. The most important thing is that we have stopped playing the boring, robotic football that we played under Martin and Williams. Look at the way our players are celebrating goals now and you'll see there's a good atmosphere in the squad.

Robots v Wizards. We don't have what I consider to be wizards on the field ... but we're considerably less robotic, with some flair starting to appear here and there. Even Ronald is putting in a good cross now and again.

Vipotnik has been much better since Sheehan took over, and it's common now to see defensive players punch the air when they make a shot-saving tackle, and they're making a lot more of those type of tackles to begin with. Spirits are up, the whole team is buying in. Why drill a hole in a boat that floats?

I hear you all but ... the new manager bounce could explain a lot of the improvement. After all there was nowhere to go but up in playing style and squad morale. If it lasts until the end of the season I'm with you, but beware of these last few games. While currently impressed I'm holding my final verdict until the end of the season. So, apparently, is the new administration.
