Sarfampton , F.A. CUP ROUND 3

I will be interested in seeing which defence offers up the most chances through their inability to play out with the ball !
The Saints just aren't clicking so let's get in their faces and hound them all over the park . If we press high and strong we can get something out of this game .
COYJB time to shine , let's have a cup run .

I have to believe they are ripe to be taken. What's the half-life of Madness ball has to be longer than a month.

Our biggest question is going to our own CB problem. If Cabango doesn't make it back, I don't have much confidence in Chrusty alongside Darling.

Still think that as bad as they are they'll still have much more quality than we do particularly considering the way we've been playing recently. I expect a Soton win but there's just a chance we might sneak a draw to get them back to ours. That would be a different game in every sense.

Luton is another club to have fired their manager. All of these clubs that are replacing management now are, for all practical purposes, throwing in the towel on the season. This just makes it easier for us if we stay the course as these other clubs will go through the almost certain 60 to 90 day re-evaluation, player repurposing, system transition process that all new managers attempt to do.

Good things can happen for us if we stay the course, stay strong, and stamp out stupid shit. It starts against Soton. Time and again we have sent shivers down the spine of teams much better than Soton, home and away - Leeds 1971, Fulham under Martinez, City at the Liberty under Potter and so on. We don't have to win to get a great positive from the match, we just have to be smart, stubborn, and solid.

Trouble is that neither our current players or manager possess anything like the quality of the examples you cited. We can still hope though.

Don't forget this:

"Ivan Jurić – an experienced manager who has coached a range of Serie A clubs, including Genoa, Torino, Hellas Verona, and most recently (even though it was a short spell), AS Roma. Ivan Jurić’s style of play is known for his high-intensity approach off the ball. We expect this to be a staple of his Southampton team as he looks to bolster their defensive record. His track record suggests he could also improve Southampton’s attacking output. This tactical analysis will look at what to expect from Southampton’s defensive tactics under Jurić while also zeroing in on some of the key defensive issues the Saints currently have and how Jurić’s tactics could fix them."

With 6 points, Soton have been absolute shit. They have 18 games remaining; need 34 points to have a prayer of escaping relegation. This return is impossible to achieve at just under 2 points per match. They are down. They weren't beaten so much as imploded game after game.

We can take these fuckers if we show up with our best stuff.

I am not saying they aren't shit and they won't be relegated. What I am saying is that you shouldn't expect them to play Martin's ball. They will press us and you know how shit we are when opposition press us high.

To pararphrase Corporal Jones from Dad's Army, we don't like it up us. As I said, I don't expect us to win but I'm hoping we get a lucky draw. In reality they'll probably take their frustration out on us and, if we aren't careful and up for this game, it could be a demolition job.

Southampton hasn't won a game since the 2nd of November. 9 losses and 2 draws since beating Everton. Let's hope that streak continues. Although they battered us last season when they were in the Championship.

Change of keeper ... thank god it's not Fisher.

Chrusty continues as CB 🤷‍♂️

Cullen on the bench - WTF🤬🤷‍♂️ MPH starts in place of Cullen.

EOM and Ronald are either side of Bianchini.

So ... bizarre team selection. We put our #1 scorer on the bench. Start our #2 keeper. Start our supposed #2 CF ... but is he now our #1 CF!?!

Ginnelly makes the bench

Williams is going for what exactly with this line-up. Perhaps he doesn't care much about the cup and is giving the likes of MPH a try out in midfield to see if can really make the difference. Zipless is clearly not the go to #9.
