Going to use this thread for a bit of occasional quiz fun. No prizes or anything and I'm going to trust you not to google the answers. First up:

What is the name of the spy 'hero' in Len Deighton's book "The Ipcress File"? Let's see who'll be the first to post an answer on here.
 
That's all I can remember of the film...not read the book....

Fair enough, have a Google. This is one of those you either know or don't. It's a regular in pub quizzes.
 
Here's another one and it should be easy for those of you with good memories as I know I posted this on another site in the past.

A spy has to break into a safe. He has only one attempt to break the combination and his bosses could give him only two clues.

2. The letters are associated with Sherlock Holmes.

What are the letters?

By the way, Sherlock Holmes never did say, "elementary, my dear Watson," in any of the books, as many people think. Next questions:

It is a name of a boat that reads the same both ways and your description fits it.
