Going to use this thread for a bit of occasional quiz fun. No prizes or anything and I'm going to trust you not to google the answers. First up:

What is the name of the spy 'hero' in Len Deighton's book "The Ipcress File"? Let's see who'll be the first to post an answer on here.

Borini

That's all I can remember of the film...not read the book....
Guess I will have to Google it then!

Fair enough, have a Google. This is one of those you either know or don't. It's a regular in pub quizzes.

Here's another one and it should be easy for those of you with good memories as I know I posted this on another site in the past.

A spy has to break into a safe. He has only one attempt to break the combination and his bosses could give him only two clues.

1.The code is 3 consecutive letters of the alphabet.

2. The letters are associated with Sherlock Holmes.

What are the letters?

I'd have thought that the answer was elementary.
By the way, Sherlock Holmes never did say, "elementary, my dear Watson," in any of the books, as many people think. Next questions:

What type of boat is a palindrome?

Who was the first Beatle to have a solo #1 hit?

Being a palindrome is a word that read identical forward or backward, is it the boat what we used to call a double ender, bow front and bow stern.?
(Pointy on both ends)

It is a name of a boat that reads the same both ways and your description fits it.
