No money for new players,
That's the reality for the most Championship clubs in the Covid era.
So far only four Championship clubs have spent some money on new players. Fulham, Swansea, QPR and Stoke. All other clubs are signing freebies and players on loan. If we sell Grimes for a reasonable price we still have time to reinvest.
When we know that 18 Championship clubs have so far invested £0 on new players, and Swansea are NOT one of them, then I think it's unrealistic to keep complaining about our lack of investment. We have to remember that last season we kept Ayew, the player who had the highest wages in the Championship. We also signed Lowe, Bennet, Manning, Smith and Lati whilst we kept Grimes, Fulton, Roberts, Naughton and Cabango. Also, we signed some players on loan and those players cost us some money as well.
Now it's clear that the club knew about Steve Cooper's departure already a month ago, so it would've been stupid to keep signing Cooper's players and not players who would fit into the new manager's philosophy. We'll see. I think we'll be signing some players in this transfer window.
