BBC reporting that we have turned down 2 bids from Coventry for Matty Grimes .
Ffs take the money and run !
Let's hope that they come back before the end of the window!

Grimes at his best is an asset. Grimes skulking and hiding at the back is useless. I'd guess that Lampard being more savvy than Williams would play him further forward.

I think it's a great move, provided Swansea get good value (£6-£8m), and honestly even if they don't.

Grimes has become the poster boy for the build-from-the-back possession fixated approach which is killing Swansea, even if it's not his fault. The club needs an overhaul, a modernisation of ideas, and sacrificing the captain who has been ever present since Swansea's slump from the top flight and subsequent slide into irrelevancy is the best way to do it, both symbolically and practically.

A midfield trio of Cooper and Franco with Cullen ahead as 10 is a very exciting prospect. Turn the Grimes money into better full-backs and get a new manager to put it all together. Grimes is a good player but if this team is ever going to change, he has to go.

Key Player
We are never going to win anything with all the strings being pulled from deep and all the focus flowing through one player. In his role, Grimes has to be a hyper busy player, always looking for the ball, always being available, always, always always. He needs to be a Leon and work at Leon's tempo ... doesn't happen, can't happen.

Another way to look at it is ... this season is done. Grimes is just not that influential in games. He is not making the difference at either end of the park. We have ridden this horse for multiple seasons now, frankly it's at its sell by date, it's looking knackered. To echo the above, time to sell while you can, reformulate the midfield into 3 technically competent grafters, and rebuild. It would also send a clear message to everybody else that it's time to put out or ship out ... nobody is expendable.

Grimes is simply not suited to the role of a modern defensive midfielder. He lacks physicality, which leads to "safe passes" that often result in negative football – play directed towards our own goal. He puts undue pressure on our centre-backs and Vigouroux. When he receives the ball, it’s almost always with his back to the opposition’s goal, and his options are typically a backward pass to one of our centre-backs or a sideways pass, most often to Tymon. Recently, he has effectively become a third centre-back, which means Williams is employing the worst of Martin's tactical missteps – a back three with full-backs pushed high, leaving the flanks exposed and a weak link in the centre of the back three. It’s no coincidence that we’ve been losing so many games lately. This so-called "tactical adjustment" – a narrow back three without proper full-backs – has been a significant factor in our struggles.
