Threw me for a moment as I always knew him as Gomez. Annoying that they referred to him as ex Wigan rather than an ex Swan but then they did sign him whereas he was only on loan when he played for us. Good player but rarely grabbed a game by the scruff of the neck - did his bit but rarely more than that...... except for his goal against Cardiff of course! :)

It’s interesting .... with Gomez and others similar ... JdG, Sig, Borini, Sinclair, etc ... over the years we have had players that could line up behind a direct kick around the box and there was an air of anticipation that something good was going to happen. We just don’t have that now. Grimes is not the quality master that we’d like him and expect him to be. An interesting comparison are the recent corner kicks taken by Roberts and Grimes, I don’t think Roberts has yet taken a corner that could be considered a waste or even weak. He puts the ball where it needs to be to do most damage. Grimes, the supposed midfield maestro, frankly shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a dead ball kick.
