"It is alleged that comments made by the Swansea City manager following an EFL Championship fixture against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday, 11 December 2019 constitute improper conduct in that they question the integrity of the match officials and/or bring the game into disrepute."

He didn't questiion the integrity of the referee, he just said that the referee made a series of errors. Questioning integrity is equal to saying that the referee was biased and that he deliberately made the errors in order to help Blackburn win the game.

Here is what Cooper said:

“I’ve seen the penalty decision back for handball and it’s just a massive error from the referee. Because he knows he made the error he’s then made the poor red card decisions and he’s lost his composure really. I didn’t think either was a red card because I’ve looked at them back.

He’s made four major decisions and he’s got them fundamentally wrong. I’m only being honest. I am criticising him, but I’m saying it as I thought at the time and I’ve seen the decisions back.

I’ve been to see him as well. He knew the ball hit his (Dack’s) hand so he said that but his hand isn’t next to him, it’s out. I get it if there are loads of players around him, but it’s travelled 15 yards before it has hit his hand. He is going to be embarrassed when he sees it back on TV.

He'll probably be refereeing in the conference now."

The only one who brought the game into disrepute was the referee.

With the amount of gambling on football these days there is a tremendous amount of data being purchased, processed and analyzed by those entities with financial skin in the game. Massive pattern analysis is taking place. Match fixing by players and officials is being ferreted out and prosecuted. Players are given briefings on a regular basis to inform on how match fixing takes place, how they might be approached and what to do if they are.

There is a difference between questioning quality and performance, and challenging integrity. With the latter being the focus of bias and match fixing. Quality and performance is a legitimate criticism ... we all want to improve the quality and performance within the sport, any sport. Match fixing is also a legitimate criticism, but I would expect that this crime is identified by the data analysis that is taking.place, and as a more subtle dark art is not easily or readily identifiable by a coach as it typically involves patterns of conduct over many matches.

Cooper’s criticism is a professional statement about quality and performance by a duly licensed professional. When expressed professionally instead of as an emotional tirade, It should not be subject to sanction but to a review of the actual quality and performance of the officials .... otherwise how do they improve.

We’ve all observed bias. There is a difference. And this does take place and may or may not be connected with criminal match fixing.

The governing bodies need to quit their faux outrage over “disrepute” and focus on improving the game, taking note of licensed professionals’ commentary as input not disrepute.

Having said all that ... he’s going to get knee capped for a few games and fined. Which may actually be a benefit to us ... just saying.

Things I wish players would say next year.
"I handled it, ref. It was a certain goal. We'll take our chance of saving the penalty. I deserve a red "
" come on ref, he doesn't deserve a red for that. It was a good tackle he had to make. See, I've got straight up, not even limping."
"I was offside,so I didn't play the ball. I knew I was because the defence put their hands up."
Wishful thinking.
Did you know our Matt Grimes has represented England in a sport played with a frisbee, but otherwise very similar to football?
The intriguing thing is that it is played without officials. The players call their own fouls!

All of the above actually happen, on all games played on fantasy Island.

This ^^^. As a lawyer I can tell you that this case would be rejected in any court in the civilised countries.

And I wonder what the mighty Ducks would say .... or Tommy Smith .... “yes ref, I don’t like him because of what he said about your wife in the tunnel, and if he was half as fast as everybody else he would have got out of the way of my studs.

Honesty is always the best policy. Cutting a long story short, I once had the need to call Ronnie Rees a f####### asshole right in front of the ref. Ref looked at Ronnie, then looked at me and said “you’re right”, and ran off.

Did you ever tell Ducks that????? I've lost count of the number of times I've seen a player being carried off quivering like a jelly, checking to see how many legs he's got left and either crying or screaming out loud in pain!! Meanwhile, Ducks is pleading with outstretched arms to an astounded, disbelieving ref that he had barely touched the guy in a fair tussle for the ball.:ROFLMAO: The guy was a legend wasn't he?

PS: And I have to add that the bastard, as you well might know, was not averse to giving his own team mates a thunderous clout in training or practice games if anyone was daft enough to take liberties with him.

Only from a distance under my breath .... and yes, he was overjoyed to dish it out in training, which is why nobody went near him
