Lets DE-BAG THE BAGGIES

If the press fails, then for all but the furthest forward, the game is still in front of them. Players can see and react and bust a gut to recover to a good position. I see very few players busting a gut to get back under any circumstances. I see players more often dawdle and watch rather drive back to a best position and become part of the defense; almost like its a refusal to be accountable and responsible. Not that this is necessarily a conscious decision, but at some level what should automatically kick-in is not. It's not just one player that does this, if you search through the videos you will find plenty of instances when we have conceded goals where the scorer or assister finds time and space while one of our lot is running back, not balls out sprinting, and watches it unfold when a sprinted effort might have made the difference. There can be no excuse for that.

They are not running back, they are jogging.

Here's something worth watching all the way through, but watch from minute 25:30 to 27 when Keano goes on a rant about playing out from the back when you're losing ... references last weekend's Salford v MK Dons in L2 and the Dons' keeper. So funny and on point.
