Burnley are real cheapskates in the transfer market but they do it well when you look at their position.

2.5 for Obafemi with a follow-on clause would make a good deal. We'd get back what we paid Soton plus a little. He's not contributing anything at the moment and sucking down wages.

Not to mention the sulking probably going on in the dressing room and in training affecting team spirit etc.

They are crazy if they don't accept the £2.5m offer. Sell him for £2.5m and sell Paterson for £500k if possible, and then buy Ogbene.

The trouble is they want to sell Whittaker as well.

You've got to wonder about the way this club does business.

Obafemi - didn't Burnley offer £6m in the summer? What has he provided in the months since to justify losing £3.5m of that value?

Pato - sulks for weeks to get a better contract. Is rewarded with better contract which makes him near impossible to move because no other club wants to offer him similar terms, despite clearly not being part of Martin's future plans.

Whittaker - recall prolific, happy player just to piss him off and sit him out where his form will dissolve on the off-chance the club gets a decent offer. Every party would be better served if they left him in Plymouth until they either accept an offer or decide they're serious about putting him back in the team.

Whittaker not being selected for the Sunderland game as there is an offer for him. Why sell him? His stats are excellent. Where will we find another player who can match them and how much will he cost if we can? I'm beginning to think that Whitts has upset Martin in some way; that his face doesn't fit for whatever reason. I get that he's been playing at a lower level but nonetheless his performances demand that he gets his chance to show he can do it with us. He's not getting that chance and I have to wonder why.

Nathaniel Ogbeta goes on season long loan to Peterborough.

Lots of outward movement and no incoming, the ones we want off the books are still here , so much for doing our business early , expect things to drag on till the last day of the window when Obafemi and Paterson will go for low transfer fees and we will panic buy an overpriced unproven wing back and striker !

Time to fire sale Obafemi ... wasn't he reported to have had a negative history at Soton before he arrived. Pato certainly did. Walsh didn't have a clean rap sheet either.

Walsh's black mark was his injury history, and look how that turned out. Don't know why Swansea thought they could change that. It's not like the Milan Lab suddenly relocated to Landore.

It's struck me since early on that Martin is the type to have personality clashes with others. Look at Jake Bidwell - not a world beater but undeniably useful and worth a lot more than a free transfer. Whittaker's another, and I think Jay Fulton got on the wrong side of Martin to start with, too.

Not sure if Fulton just worked really hard in training, or changed his ways to appease Martin, or if Martin realises the squad is too thin to marginalise a Premier League quality player. Something doesn't smell right.

This is the same manager than was cold on Benda, Ollie Cooper and Liam Cullen to begin with. One by one he's realised what the fans know and has reluctantly introduced players he clearly had a personal issue with, because they can clearly produce.

This is another reason why I don't rate Martin. He came in with the same 3-5-1-1 system he used at MK Dons, brought 3 Dons with him, and played them instead of Swansea's existing players. Gradually - probably with a lot of encouragement from the backroom staff - he's given up on his Dons, started playing the Swansea boys, and recently ditched the 3-5-1-1 for a 4-2-3-1.

By the end of the season he'll be playing near enough the exact same team - an academy-heavy line-up in a 4-2-3-1 - that 95% of the fanbase would select if anyone stopped to ask them. 2 years of tinkering to end up with the same squad a twitter poll could have produced. What's he bringing exactly?

There is so much animosity towards Paterson both on this site and on the social media.

The club signed him in summer 2021 when he was a free agent and without a contract. Many Swansea fans say he should be grateful for the chance he was given by the club but they forget the club got a skillful attacking midfielder for free. Alan Curtis and Lee Trundle have always praised Pato's technical abilities and when these two gentlemen talk about footballing skills I listen what they have to say. As far as I know Pato didn't even get a signing-on-fee. And when it comes to wages he was one of the worst paid players in the squad.

The club had an option to extend Pato's contract, which the club did already in early November 2021, but nothing happened in terms of wages, despite Pato's excellent performances on the pitch. I guess he and the club had a verbal agreement about an improved contract if his performances had justified it. So, whilst he was scoring and creating goals the club tried to exploit him by extending his low wages contract. With other words, the club told him you are a fckin idiot. But you can't treat other people like that. So Pato went on strike in November and December 2021, and I don't blame him. Decent clubs reward top performers with better contracts and that's completely normal today. Pato was earning ridiculously low wages (equal to what academy players earn) and when he finally got an improved contract he was still one of the lowest earners in the squad, which he still is. By the way, Fulton is one of the worst paid Swansea players as well. That's how our club rewards its players.

One more thing. In the past decade only Gylfi Sigurdsson managed more assists per season for Swansea (13 assists) than Jamie Paterson (9 assists). Not to talk about Paterson's goals, his second and third assists, and his contribution to the forward passing chains...

Jamie Paterson is not a perfect player. Far from it. He lacks physical strength, which is a problem in such a physical league like Championship, but he is still a good player for this level if used properly in his natural position. Unfortunately, too many times he has been pushed too wide by Martin into positions where he couldn't threaten opposition goal. And now when Cooper is blossoming as ATM it's best both for the club and Pato to part ways.

Always good to see both sides of the coin. If the player has been so badly treated by the club then he has every right to feel aggrieved. At his best he's a very useful player and it's a shame that Martin and he can't make up as he could be a good squad asset in the run in to the end of the season.

I like what Paterson did last year, he and Piroe were so important to our offense. I don't understand the hate for him either. He had so many good assists and scored crucial goals when Piroe wasn't hot.

We have 3 strikers and if we sell Whittaker I'd say that keeping 2 is playing with fire, it's not enough to finish the season. And that means Martin and the owners would have lied about their intentions with recalling Morgan.

We are seeing a lot going out and little coming in this window. Maybe we have some academy players ready.

I think Swansea are waiting to shift some players and bring in some transfer funds before moving for new players, which is a dangerous but probably necessary game.

I'd expect Ogbene to come but only after Obafemi and/or Patterson are gone, and by then another club like Millwall might have taken Ogbene.

Burnley can make a lowball offer because they know the more days pass, the less time Swansea will have to strengthen. Probably better to take a little less now with time to use it than get left with money they can't spend and a paper thin squad.

What’s all the fuss over Ogbene? Looking at his numbers they are nothing worth what they might be asking for him - transfer market had him valued at £2M … don’t see why.
