Looks like Garrick's been sold to Forest Green for an undisclosed sum. Shame to see him go, never given a real chance etc.

Who's next?

Looks like the Club is hunting / scavenging for money. Who will be next? Is Whittaker a pawn in this process?

Interesting breakdown in WOL pointed out that due to league rules, while a player can be registered with three different clubs in a single season, they can't play for more than two. So if Whittaker plays for Swansea in the next few games, we'll know he's probably not being sold, but if he doesn't play...

Okoflex has been recalled by Westham , no surprise given his lack of minutes under Martins stewardship. What a waste of a young , exciting player who could get fans out of their seats and raise the atmosphere in the stadium .
Stick to your pets Martin and see us fail woefully, you wouldn't recognise talent if it bit you in the arse ! :poop:

From what I've read I get the impression that Oko wasn't used because he didn't carry out Martin's game plan and do what was required of him eg tracking back etc. I suppose a manager is entitled to disregard players who don't play to instruction but, given some of Martin's weird plays, you can't really blame them. Oko has come from a level above and been coached by some top people as a result, so I guess he just couldn't understand what Martin required of him - and, if he did, didn't agree with it and did his own thing.

In one of our recent come-back games, we scored precisely because Flex went walk about to his best side got involved in the play and setup a goal - Fulton's I think.

He should've played more. I don't understand this obsession with forcing attacking players to track back. The only result of this obsession is that you tire them down. Six defenders should be enough no matter which formation you play.

You guys remember I used to keep count of what I called "regressive assists" - i.e. the pass which led to the pass which led to the goal. Well, fbref.com calls the same thing "goal creating actions". They also track "shot creating actions" for the same thing but producing shots rather than only goals.

Guess which player leads the Swans in both categories (per 90 mins played)? Armstrong Oko-Flex.

4.55 shot creating actions per game and 0.91 goal creating chances per game. Granted, in only 3.3 games worth of play time and most of that broken up into 10 or 20 mins here or there, but that almost makes it more impressive - a guy making cameos manages to add more (potential) to the attack than anyone else.

They've got some absurdly in-depth figures on that site, well worth a look if you like numbers. I'm sure @CroJack already knows about it. Not quite as sure Russell Martin does though...

I used to post here something I called attacking passing chains that lead either to a goal, chance or shot. @jackodiamonds used to call them first, second and third assists. That's an excellent metric because passes made prior to an assist can be more difficult than the assist.

I've had a look at the Oko-Flex numbers.

His 0.91 goal-creating chances per game is totally unrealistic. It's same as saying that Baker-Richardson was the most effective striker in the world when he scored 2 goals in 10 minutes for us. 3.3 games is a too small sample to draw any conclusions. 4.55 shot-creating actions per game is probably inflated as well because Oko-Flex used to come in as a sub when we were chasing results and throwing the kitchen sink. So, these stats should be taken with a grain of salt.

Here are this season's numbers for goal-creating chances per game for some of the best strikers and attacking midfielders in the world:

Leo Messi 1.60
Kevin De Bruyne 1.16
Bruno Fernandes 0.69
Bernardo Silva 0.67
Martin Ødegaard 0.60
Luka Modric 0.58
Rodri 0.52
Christian Eriksen 0.51
Mo Salah 0.48

One more thing. Despite not being completely match fit in some of the games he's played Jamie Paterson beats Armstron Oko-Flex in almost all attacking stats.

All of this doesn't mean Oko-Flex is not an exciting, young player, who should've played much more for us. And all of this definitely doesn't mean that his stats over the course of a season wouldn't be better than Paterson's. My point is that we don't know and we can't draw conclusions based on such a small statistical sample.

3.3 games is of course too small a number, it was just interesting to me that those numbers did back up everyone's opinion that he is a creative attacking player that should have been used more. I mean, that much should've been obvious to Martin or whoever else just by watching the games, nevermind the numbers.

Oh, yes, and it's a shame we haven't played him all the time. When he played he created chaos in the opposition third and penalty box.

And I forgot to mention one more thing. I've looked at his defensive stats and they are pretty good for an attacking player. When it comes to defensive contribution Paterson couldn't lace his boots.
