Let's just focus and settle for a point if we have to. At least it would prevent HT going 3 more points ahead of us.

A point is a point. Hopefully we'll find our form. Hate to think we don't have at least a sniff of playoffs. Christie looks like he'll be decent. But we need more coming in.

Head said we'd lose (speaking to LadyGG last night) but heart said a 1-1 draw. Heart won! :D And it sounded as though we were unlucky not to get all three points. If we can carry on with this sort of performance we might yet threaten the top six by season's end. I just hope that we haven't flattered to deceive yet again but good signs today against an in form team.

Some stats from the game:

POSSESSION: 31-69 SHOTS: 11-18 OT: 8-11 CORNERS: 4-7 FOULS: 8-3 GOALS: 1-1

A pretty impressive set of figures with 18 shots and 11 on target. Of course, they say nothing about the quality of the shots or how clear cut the opportunities were but, nevertheless, against a team that dumped Premier League Burnley out of the FA Cup last week, they aren't at all bad. It will be interesting to see how we go against Bristol City next week and whether we can maintain the good football the comms informed me we were playing.

We didn't have any real clear-cut opportunities, and the vast majority of shots were low quality shots. On the other hand, Huddersfield had three clear-cut chances.

The problem with the poor execution of the possession football is that the opposition easily creates high quality chances if you allow them to counter-attack and your defence is shambles, and you have to work hard to create any chances because the possession football forces the opposition to park the bus.

Our football in the second half was good. Here are the stats from the second half.

Thanks for that, CJ. Their goalie made a couple of good saves, the rest were fairly routine.
What worries me is that when we lose the ball Hamer is likely halfway to the centre circle. I hear that Fisher is more “adventurous“ 😚🙄
BTW I hear Martin calling him “Fish”, I wonder what he calls Christie?

We need to up our pace and intensity by at least 10%. Do that and we'll be a dangerous team. At the moment we are far too slow and considered in our build-up play giving defenders time to get organised. That first goal by HT was a terrible give away by our defence who were all drawn towards the ball leaving the scoring striker in inglorious isolation. Any of us could have scored that with all the time and space he had!!

We can all see the football RM is trying to play - we just need to be doing it quicker and more fluently a la Martinez, Rodgers and Laudrup. Their teams were always on the move, which is one of our failings. Our players just jog into position giving defenders time to go with them and close down. If we were more fluent, more explosive, they wouldn't have that time. It just takes intensive and repeated practise in training. When a man is on the ball there should be two or three running options and when one of those has the ball, he should also have runners; NOT joggers or watchers!
