Houston, we have a problem

Just had a nasty thought and surprised it didn't occur to me sooner! When Rooney played for DC many on here suspected that funds were being diverted from transfer sales to pay his salary. Now Rooney has been appointed as their manager and we sell Downes....... Just saying.
Well remembered, I distinctly remember voicing this opinion back on TJA forums I think it was... I shouted as far and wide as I could but it got zero any traction in the press. Everyone in the pub agrees, some are shocked when they realise how obvious it is in hindsight but oblivious to them at the time. Even when we were being not only gutted but hung drawn and quartered.

Has anybody got any links to up to date documents about who are our current true owners? I understand individual investors are likely to come and go.

That's a sickening thought ... but hopefully Downes' departure paved the way in budget terms for the arrival of Allen, which IMO is an upgrade - short term at least.

From what I've seen so far, with the lack of pace of Darling ... we play with Cobango and A.N.Other Naughton at RB. Ogbeta at LB. Grimes / Allen / Fulton. Obafemi in front of Piroe #8 and Congreve #10. This will give us enough latitude to let Naughton or Ogbeta get forward as far and as often as they can.

But I'm sure Martin will push his favs in there somehow. And Martin has been pushing Naughton as LWB/LB in pre-season with Lati on the right.
Well, in football terms Darling is Martin's darling, so we have to assume he'll start - unless he stinks the place out of course. I don't think he will because he does have talent but I think we'll have to devise cover for his lack of pace and slowness on the turn. With luck he's working on those aspects in training and we can hope that his footballing brain will compensate for his deficiencies. We'll see. But I do like his height and strength and his ability to ping 50 yard passes with accuracy. Overall I think he's a good signing but might take time to adjust to Championship level.

As for Fulton in midfield I think you might be being optimistic purely because Martin seems to have a blind spot about his ability.

Leon also leaves. Is there something unsaid shouting aloud behind this statement?

"I'm naturally disappointed to be stepping down from this role"
“But I want to spend more quality time with my family and step away from a football environment, which is always so demanding and time consuming. Football has been my life for the best part of 30-odd years and I feel it is the right time to focus on the things that are most important in my life."

Well, he said exactly the same thing when he stepped down from the sporting director role in 2020.

If it was the right time to focus on family, then he shouldn't be disappointed to be stepping down from this role. Instead he should be looking forward to it.

Here is what he said on 13th June 2020:

“I’m obviously disappointed to leave,’’ confirmed Britton. “But the time is right for me to take a break, spend some quality time with my family and enjoy the freedom and flexibility of a ‘normal’ life."

“But the job is 24/7, all-consuming, and now is the time I have to keep the promise to myself and my family to take a break from the game after nearly 30 years."

“I will keep in touch with the club and help wherever I can because the Swans and the fans mean everything to me. I really hope it’s not the end of my close relationship with the club and I can come back in some capacity sometime in the future.’’

The claim that the academy players' mentor role is "so demanding and time consuming" that he can't spend enough time with his family is, pardon my French, a bullshit.
