Looks like we've lost Matt O'Riley to Celtic because we couldn't stump up the transfer fee. I'd heard a figure of £1.5 million being quoted and our fcuking useless owners wouldn't even put that much in.

Looks like Rhys Williams is going back to Liverpool. He didn't cut it with us but I wish the lad well.

Subject to visa clearance it's reported that 22 year old Hannes Wolf a 'creative attacker' is coming in from Borussia Monchengladbach. Signed from Red Bull Leipzig for about £8 million, he's fallen down the pecking order at BM. Seems that Celtic and Rapid Vienna were also sniffing around lately, so perhaps the Austrian has some quality.

Meantime Jamie Paterson has been ordered to train with the youth team whilst the issues surrounding him have been dealt with... one way or the other.

How serious a punishment is that? I don’t know. What happens at the end of the month when there is no club insane enough to buy a load of trouble.
I’d like to think there is still a way back for him, but RM doesn’t seem the forgiving type.

Paterson ... an adult issue has spiraled into a sulk, has spiraled into a tantrum, has spiraled into FU your attitude is not wanted around the squad.

Watched Celtic v Rangers wondering if I might see Aaron Ramsey. He didn't play but Matt O'Riley did and he was very, very good. He came off to a rousing ovation and the comms mentioned that he's been excellent in every game since signing!! He played a prominent part in the second goal and comms saying that he keeps it simple but with great effect and plays clever passes when needed. He has a gem of a left foot and his set piece deliveries were way, way superior to those of Grimes both from corners and free kicks. Well done, you donkey owners, now why don't you fcuk off and take your 28 leeches, sorry 'investors', with you. You sorry bastards murdered our club and you will never be forgiven. A pittance would have bought MOR and you couldn't even do that for us. BTW, nice to see CCV playing for Celtic and he had a very sound game.

Reading that Joe Allen has the hots to come back and play for us. So much so he is reported as saying he would be prepared to take a substantial pay cut to do so. There's no doubt that he'd be a quality addition for us and Russell Martin really rates him. Thank God we agree on something!! Be great to see Joe playing for us once more, so let's hope it happens.

Here's the thing about Joe Allen: He is now 32. Contract expires with Stoke in June. He is still a critical element of the Wales squad and presuming we go to the World Cup finals needs to get regular game time.

Who would he replace in our midfield ... Grimes or Downes? Could he fit into Martin's Madness? Would Martin pick him or stick with his pets.

If Joe is starting then somebody else isn't. It's counter productive for Joe and Wales to be sitting on the bench. He needs to be starting as many matches as he can. In the current squad: Joe would probably be competing with Grimes and Downes for a starting slot. Martin loves Grimes and Downes is one of his acquisitions. Presuming the Joe is up to the task, would Martin look to start him, or keep to his pets and use Joe as backup.

Same story for Bale, Ramsey, Rodon, Roberts et al. They need to be starting as many matches as possible leading up to the World Cup.

Our manager (whoever it is) could rotate. After all, we play 46 league + League Cup + FA Cup games. Easily over 50 games next season. There will be fatique and possibly some injuries as well.
Agree completely ... but Martin doesn't rotate. He doesn't cultivate replaceability and hence rotation in his squad.

Seems that Stoke want Joe for another year and are preparing an offer. Meantime, other Championship clubs are also interested along with Fulham and Muff who are now in the Premier League, which Joe might fancy for a last hurrah at the top level....... not to mention the bigger salary he'd get. Also, it seems that four or five Spanish clubs fancy signing him, so I doubt very much that we'd be in the running except if Joe is determined to come home.

Thing is, we'd need funds to sign him so that probably would mean goodbye to Piroe, who might well be off anyway. But, just for fun, if it came to a choice between Joe plus another striker or keeping Piroe, which option would you guys choose?

Piroe, without doubt. A young striker who can score 20+ goals in the Championship is the future, and we should really keep Piroe and Obafemi if we are serious about promotion. Any other player can be sold and replaced, but these two? No way. I'd love we sign Joe, but he is not what we need, if we keep Downes and Grimes. What we need is:

1) a new goalkeeper, if we don't keep Benda,
2) two big centre-backs who have got pace,
3) a right wing-back/full-back who's got pace and is a terrier like Roberts,
4) a creative, attacking midfielder who is physically stronger than Paterson and who can run more than Ntcham does,
5) find the third striker/winger who can score 20+ goals to play him up front with Piroe and Obi.
