Looks like Downes is off to Palace, which makes Joe's return more likely. Hope we get good money for Flynn and not just looking for a decent profit on the £1.5 million we paid for him. In my opinion, if a Premier League club deems a player is good enough for them then £12 million should be a minimum figure they should be prepared to pay in today's financial climate.

Makes Fulton a valuable asset doesn’t it. Even if Joe comes back.

downes is worth around 10 or so. 10 years ago ‘pool paid considerably more than that for Joe

Downes is worth less than £500k. If it's true we've sold him for £10m+, then we've fooled Crystal Palace and sold them a mediocre player for a lot of money.

I'm wondering which stats prove he is an excellent player? I couldn't find any apart from his passing stats, which we all know are worthless. Who cares about sideways and backwards passing?

Actually, together with Grimes, he was a defensive liability last season. Whoscored gave him a rating of 6.59, which is mediocre at best. He was 12th best rated Swansea player last season.

Last season Joe Allen made more recoveries and more tackles than Downes. He also won more aerial duels. He had same number of key passes and successive offensive dribbles. And for passing, Stoke don't play possession football, so I'm sure Joe can easily match Downes' passing stats.

I thought there would be more interest in Piroe. It seems like Downes is worth around £5-6 million to Palace.

Sell. He cost the club £1.5m last summer. With his wages and agent fees that's approx. £2.3m. Where on earth can you get 100 % ROI (return on investment) in just one year? He can easily be replaced by Ntcham, Fulton, Dan Williams etc.

Piroe, Obafemi and Paterson, on the other hand, are players we should keep.

I have now read that we are considering offering Lati a new contract to ward off interest from Burnley - IF he signs and they persist then they'll have to pay more than the £500k figure that's being bandied about. Also saw that we're asking £12 million for Downes, which is the figure I suggested in a previous post. That said, asking and getting are two different things but somewhere around £10 million would be good.

Potter at Brighton looking at Piroe as a replacement for Neil Maupay who looks likely to leave. Also read that Ogbeta doesn't feature in Martin's plans going forward and this not that long after we paid £300k for him. He hasn't played much for us, so is he that bad in training; or has he become another of Martin's blind spots? I'm baffled by this manager of ours and many of his, to me, odd decisions. I'm thinking he'd better get a top six finish this coming season or he's likely to become history with us. Looking at our pre-season displays I reckon he's got a lot to do to avoid this.

Ogbetta arrived as a replacement for Bidwell ... wasn't given a look in. We'd have been better off retaining Bidwell. Now we have Sorrinola, who appears to be another potential fish out of water.

Potter can piss off. If Piroe leaves then we'll have to rely on Cullen and Congreve establishing themselves. We already know that Martin can't coach defense; if we lose Piroe's goals we're really at risk of relegation.
