As per my post #59, I go to replensish the fat ball feeders this morning and see a bird stuck upside down in the feeder again (hope it wasn't the same one as last time)!. Anyway, carrying the feeder and its occupant, I walked across to a neighbour to see if he had any snips as my other neighbour who helped last time, is on holiday. All the while I'm stroking this bird and talking quietly to it to keep it calm. My neighbour was about to get the snips when I had an idea. I tipped the feeder upside down, shook it gently and the bird fell out and flew away. Brilliant!! The bird didn't struggle or seem alarmed at all, so I suppose in its way it sensed I was trying to help. I have now used a cable tie to secure the top of the feeder, so hopefully I won't have to perform any more rescue acts.
