Just love this. Labrador mum sorting out her squabbling puppies. Worth 78 seconds of your time to take a look.

Now for another story about my own furry friend Hector. Took him on his walk this morning but failed to notice that he had one of his tennis balls in his gob. This is an absolute NO NO because should he lose control of his ball, he'll chase after it regardless and he could get run over if he chases it into the road. So I removed said ball from his chops and threw it over the fence into my back garden. Next thing, Hector has dragged the lead from my hand and run to the house to get in after his ball.

His only real chance of access was via the wooden front gate, which should have stopped him. It didn't stop him!! He just bashed his way through it and now I have a demolished gate to repair. Our postman was close by and was astonished at the carnage my hound had caused. I took a pic of the gate and will post it here shortly.:love:

Came across this fab video of a cute little koala bear interacting with a rather attractive lady. Love it! Been a long, long time since a woman stroked me like that. :( But seriously, what a lovely little bear! :)

One of these weird moments because llamas and alpacas don't exactly feature heavily in my life. Yet a few days ago I had a telephone chat with @Borini when I told him about a phone call I'd had from Hector's previous owner, a lady called Allison. Seems that when H was younger she used to walk him on her neighbour's farm land where she grazed sheep. Now Hector got on with the sheep and never bothered them other than occasionally sniffing their butts, no doubt to find out if they were some kind of new woolly dog.

Anyway, the farmer had been losing sheep so she bought a guard alpaca, which took exception to Hector approaching the flock and attacked him. They had a bit of a set-to before Allison hauled Hector off home. Allison being a teacher was out for most of the day and H had the run of the garden where he was quite content until Allison came home. He never broke out of there.

But this one day, Allison got a call from the farmer to come and get Hector as he was fighting with her alpaca. Apparently it was nothing too nasty but quite a step up from play fighting as both animals were getting their digs in. Thing is, after this, Hector broke out several times more and each time Allison got a call from the farmer along the lines of, 'Hector is fighting the alpaca again!'

I don't know how this was finally resolved as Allison had to cut short our conversation but I have to ring her back to find out. What I find amusing is that Hector had chosen to escape from the garden then walk over a half mile just to fight this alpaca. I'd love to know what his thought processes were but he won't tell me!!

How come you have llamas and alpacas in Wales?

How come you have llamas and alpacas in Wales?
Told my ex about Hector's feud with the alapaca and she said that an acquaintance of hers has a smallholding with two alpacas. For some reason they seem to be popular in Wales and, delving more deeply into it, they are excellent at keeping sheep predators such as foxes and dogs away from their flocks, so they are used all over the world to do this.

Take just one minute to watch this lovely racoon asking for more grapes. I'll be in real trouble if Hector figures out the trick of pushing the bowl! :ROFLMAO:

Done my good deed for the day. :) I have two of those metal cylinder shaped bird feeders in my little garden which have a grill pattern with a solid removeable top. I put fat balls in these feeders and the local feathered wild life get through over 4 dozen fat balls every week in addition to a bag of suet/mealworm pellets and household food scraps. Think some of these birds have beaks like pneumatic drills! I frequently see over 20 or 30 birds squabbling for position on these feeders.

Anyway, I had just started my morning walk around the block with Hector (neither of us can walk far these days!) and over the fence I saw a bird on one of the feeders. Then I realised he was actually IN the feeder and not on it. The poor beggar was firmly stuck upside down with his head through one of the gaps and a wing through another. So I went into the garden to release it but the feeder was far too strong to bend the bars.

The bird was obviously scared to death but could hardly move as I walked across to my neighbour's house to see if he had a pair of snips strong enough to cut through the metal. All the while I was talking softly to the bird to keep it calm and it seemed to sense I was trying to help because it allowed me to stroke its head and trapped wing and didn't even try to peck me. Anyway, my neighbour's snips weren't strong enough so he joined me and we knocked several doors in an attempt to find some.

Eventually we succeeded. Two doors up from my place, neighbour Steve had a decent tool kit and, after several tries found one to do the job. Meanwhile, I'm whispering non-stop to this little bird who was as good as gold. I was scared that it might suffer a heart attack or damage its head or wing if it struggled too hard. Steve's wife, Anne, joined us along with Nan and Mo, two other neighbours, so there were six of us trying to help this bird who'd only come to my garden for his breakfast.

Then SUCCESS!! :D After about 20 minutes snipping away, a gap appeared and the bird fell through it onto the grass. It fluttered its wings, hopped a few feet then suddenly took flight and flew to the top of a nearby tree. I was so chuffed!! From first to last, the whole rescue operation took about an hour with six of us involved and it has made my day to see the little thing survive its ordeal. Now I'm off to the shop to buy another feeder! :ROFLMAO:

PS: I haven't got a frigging clue what type of bird it was, so I'll ask my neighbours later to see if they know.
