SWANSEA 5 NOTTINGHAM FOREST 1
When you look at that score line you would hardly expect the match stats below to read.

Swans Forest
48% possession 52%
17 Shots 15
9 on target 2
4 corners 11
9 fouls 12
5 goals 1
It would seem our final third play has certainly improved, and judging by the corners tally our defence was as resilient as ever.

@Jackflash ... yesterday’s game was ridiculous in a number of ways that are difficult to resolve. Were Forest really that soft and us that clinical? Did Forest have a typical championship level performance? If so then we dispatched them with the nonchalant aplomb of a top premier league side. As you state, we have come to expect our defense to be impregnable, we have not been that clinical in and our goal scoring.

Grimes found a gear yesterday. With the arrival of Hurricane, Grimes has done the arithmetic and realized that 4 seasoned players into 3 positions doesn’t fit. About time, he put his best foot forward. Given decent service Cullen demonstrated that the tools in his locker are plenty good enough at this level.

In fact if it wasn’t for a moment of silliness by our most junior defender Forest would have been shut out.

I can only conclude that we’re ready for the final stretch of the season and bring on City. Let’s see what we’ve really got here.

I don't think Grimes position is in jeopardy. It would be madness not to play Hourihane as ATM in future, having in mind his goalscoring abilities and his creativity.

If we continue to play 3-4-1-2 then I think it's Fulton and Smith who will be switching places in the starting XI depending on opponents we play.

Posters will know I've been shouting for Liam Cullen for some time now having watched his progress from the 'Unders' for a couple of years. I could see what he would offer back then. He's not particularly quick; not particularly big; not particularly strong (though that can be worked on) but he has that instinct for being where he should be to put the ball in the net. I think he's scored 3 times for the first team and what did each goal have in common? They were ALL FIRST TOUCH STRIKES. And that, in my long experience (I'm old! ), is a sure sign of a natural goalscorer.

But, as @Yankee_Jack correctly pointed out, he needs decent service into the box where he does his damage. He's rarely going to beat men from out wide, cut in and score etc etc. like Lowe for instance His modus operandi is scavenging in the penalty area but he needs the ball to do his scavenging and it's down to our midfield to supply it when he plays.

Crunch game against Brentford to come and, if we win that, we could be set fair for a good run in. At least we've got Hoory, which will defintely improve our chances and Jordan Morris will know he has to play really well, when he gets a game, to displace one of Lowe, Ayew and Cullen and that can only be good for us as well.

Well said. I would definitely agree Cullen has earned a chance with the first team. Lots of good players have come through our academy. I hope it hasn't suffered too much losing their status. I hope Routs and Cullen haven't picked up any bad knocks. It was gutting watching Cullen come off the pitch.

We have an exciting squad. Hourihane was a great signing. If Morris can help we can compete for automatics. No guarantees. They have to play well. If the defence can maintain their excellence and Hourihane contribute to goals we have a complete side. Could be worse, we could be 15th right now.
